QUANG NGAI – From the end of December to April, the rocks on Ly Son Island are covered with green moss hidden in the waves.
This season, along the embankments on Ly Son Island, the rocks near the shore are covered with green moss. In the morning, the moss color blends into the misty morning mist, the boats in the distance.
Mr. Nguyen Van Chi, a resident of Ly Son who has been far away from his hometown for a long time, came home to visit his house during Tet, and with his wife took pictures of moss to commemorate before returning to the mainland.

Green moss grows on yellow rocks in the early sunlight, next to it is the basket boat of fishermen caught near the shore.
Tran Cong Huy (right) and a group of close friends returned to their hometown Ly Son to play Tet, and bathed next to a moss beach. “Normally the water here is clear, but in the season the moss becomes green,” Huy described.

Ly Son Island is about 30 minutes from mainland Quang Ngai province by speedboat, with unique geological and cultural heritages. As the hometown of Hoang Sa Squadron cum Bac Hai governor, this place preserves the history of sovereignty over the sea and islands of Vietnam.
Over the years, the island has attracted domestic and international tourists. Every New Year and New Year’s Day, visitors a day up to thousands of people. This year, due to the Covid-19 translation, the number of visitors decreased. Mr. Le Van Ninh, Vice Chairman of People’s Committee of Ly Son district, said that from the 28th to the 6th of the new year, the total number of tourists is only about 2,000.
