Thuong village was an old village named Nom “Ném Thuong” in Khac Niem commune, Bac Ninh city. The village here is located in a land full of historical and cultural legends of the nation. However, the history and culture of Thuong village are converged and reflected in the ancient temple vestige complex. In it, the village temple has the name “Dai Bi Tu”, which was built long ago on the top of the mountain and used to be the center of Buddhism.
Buddhism with the spirit of compassion, compassion and charity, has long ago entered people’s hearts, advising people to give up evil, do good, and live towards goodness. According to ancient history books, Buddhism from India was transmitted directly into the Buddha Tich (Tien Du) and the Dau-Luy Lau (Thuan Thanh) region, leaving the mark of the Tu Dharma temple system in the Dau region and This is the largest Buddhist center in our country right from the early centuries BC.

From the Buddha Tich and from the Strawberry region, Buddhism spread and spread to the surrounding areas and many pagodas were built. By the time of Ly-Tran, Buddhism flourished and became the state religion, the court used Buddhism to rule the country. The Ly dynasty chose places with beautiful mountains to build pagodas. Especially Kinh Bac is the home of the Ly dynasty, the Ly kings built many pagodas and some great famous places such as: Great and famous Phat Tich pagoda on Lan Kha mountain, Dai Lam pagoda on Dam mountain.
The famous pagodas were built in the Ly dynasty such as: Bach Mon Pagoda, Linh Quang Pagoda, Long Kiem Pagoda, Tam Son Pagoda, Tieu Son Pagoda, Vong Nguyet Pagoda, Bo Vang Pagoda, Pha Lai Pagoda … In that context, Dai Pagoda Bi on Ngoan Son mountain was also built on a large scale and used to be the center of Buddhism.

Thuong village pagoda “Dai Bi Tu” is located on the top of Ngoan Son mountain (also known as Pagoda), which was built up a long time ago. . At that time, the pagoda in addition to Tam Bao also had bells, backstairs, two sides of the corridor, the model house, the ancestor’s house, the monk, and the guest house.
Following the order to scavenge the anti-French resistance war, that ancient temple was demolished. In 1990, villagers set up a few small-scale Tam Bao pavilions for Buddha worship. In recent years, villagers donate together, merit reconstructing the Tam Bao temple of the pagoda on a very large scale with traditional looks.

The outstanding value of Dai Bi pagoda is the preserved documents. Those are the 5 stele-text falls of the pagoda dating back to the Le Trung Hung dynasty with the following names and dates: The stele is named “Dai Bi Tu” from Chinh Hoa 24 (1703). The stele is titled “The Late Buddha’s Biography” dated Vinh Thinh 3 (1707).
The tetrahedron stele is titled “Founding of marble, signed by the whole village, Covenant is made together” dated Vinh Thinh 4 (1708). The stele is titled “The Late Buddha’s Biography” dated Canh Hung 16 (1755). The stele is named “Hau Buddha Bi Ky, Dong village Le Ky” dated Canh Hung 20 (1759).
These are the invaluable cultural heritages of Dai Bi pagoda, not only a relic of the temple in history but also informs about the village history, the temple restoration and embellishment, the post-payment, religious beliefs and customs of the homeland here.

All the restoration and embellishment of Dai Bi pagoda in the Le Trung Hung period have been inscribed in the temple’s epitaph. In which, the epitaph entitled “The Late Buddha’s Biography” was built in the 3rd year of Vinh Thinh (1707) by the abbot of the pagoda with the monk’s title Hoang Nguyen Tu with the passage: “Often heard Buddha is the enlightened one. Enlightenment. The person with the capacity of enlightenment is Buddha. The dream knows the illusory identity, the impermanence.
Wealthy was no one more than Thach Sung, Vuong Khai was just a moment of zero (it is said that Thach Sung, Vuong Khai who lived in the Jin dynasty in China befriended each other and were famously rich. He turned into Thach Sung because of his regret, he stuck his tongue forever, but Vuong Khai, though being a big mandarin, was overly playful, and was laughed at when he passed away).
There is no one poor like beggars, wood collectors, but ten thousand years still enjoy the fragrant sound. So the Buddhist scriptures have taught: To bend the bureaucracy in the world to retain wealth, in the end, is still suffering. Creating goodness for life in the place of the Three Jewels, where there is a place to take refuge. That is how the Buddha’s merit cannot help but think and explain ”.
