Started construction on May 16, 2020, Quang Thanh Bridge is a bridge spanning the Van Uc River, connecting An Lao District, Hai Phong City with Thanh Ha District, Hai Duong Province.
With a total construction cost of nearly VND 400 billion, Quang Thanh Bridge is a permanent bridge made of reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete with a length of 536 m, a width of 12 m, design load HL93 (maximum load). , the size of the navigable compartment is 50 m wide, 9.5 m high.
With the desire to create architectural and landscape highlights for the bridge, to reduce the inherent heaviness and stiffness of reinforced concrete structures, the Project Management Board and Design Consultant have found solutions. Architectural design is suitable with topography, width of river bed, length of main span and ensures economy.
Therefore, the Project Management Board and Design Consultant have chosen to design Quang Thanh Bridge in the form of mixed cable girders, the main pillars on the river have a very unique “grain” shape.
According to Hai Phong City, the construction of Quang Thanh Bridge is a testament to the good cooperation between the two localities (Hai Phong City and Hai Duong Province), as well as meeting the people’s long-term expectations.
When the bridge is opened to traffic, it will connect directly between Thanh Ha district and An Lao district. These are areas with great potential for development but still difficult in terms of traffic connections; At the same time, it also opens up great opportunities for the two localities to exchange and develop.
After 13 months of construction, up to now, Quang Thanh Bridge has basically been completed and is expected to be open to traffic at the end of June 2021.
The bridge is designed with 4 lanes, including 2 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles; The two main piers on the river are designed in the shape of a lotus bud, with cable-stayed supporting beams.
Currently, the contractor has basically completed the construction of the bridge; There are only a few small items that are urgently being completed such as: Reflective paint on the bridge wall, installation of the drain cover at the bridge slope and the embankment of the river dike on the side of Quang Thanh commune, An Lao district.
Currently, the slope of the bridge on the side of Quang Thanh commune, An Lao district, is fenced by a concrete mound to prevent vehicles from passing. However, some people in An Lao and Thanh Ha districts still take advantage of transporting goods by motorbike to the barrier point, then to load.
Quang Thanh Bridge was built in 13 months, 2 months ahead of the expected schedule. The construction contractor is the Joint Venture of Thang Long Bridge 3 Joint Stock Company – JSC Construction Investment Group HJC and Thang Long Corporation.
Quang Thanh ferry used to be an arterial traffic route connecting Hai Duong city, Thanh Ha district (Hai Duong province) with An Lao, Kien An and Le Chan districts (Hai Phong city).
After being inaugurated and put into use, Quang Thanh Bridge will replace the old Quang Thanh ferry, contribute to connecting and promoting regional economic development, as well as trade goods between Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province.
