Can Tho is one of the stops not to be missed on the journey to visit the Mekong Delta provinces.

The two-day itinerary in Can Tho below is according to the advice of Ms. Do Vy, tour guide of Con Son Tourism Cooperative (Can Tho City) and the experience of Vinlove . This is a suitable trip for people who have little time, but still want to visit all the popular spots and eat typical dishes in Can Tho.

Day 1

Morning and noon

Have breakfast in the city center with the recommended dish being noodles. Can Tho is one of the best places to eat Nam Vang noodle soup in the West. The main ingredients are rice noodles, broth from minced meat, and pork intestines. Some additional but indispensable ingredients are bean sprouts, chives, minced meat, beef balls and some other ingredients depending on the restaurant. Reference shop: A Dai, Huynh Ky, Ngoc Ngan.

The next trip in the morning is to visit Con Son. This is a small island located in the middle of the Hau River, about 7 km from the city center. “If you don’t have much time, the half-day Con Son tour is a suitable choice for tourists who want to learn about the life of the southern river region,” Do Vy said.

Con Son tour usually departs from the city center, from 8:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. Price fluctuates around 250,000 VND per person. Normally, meals are paid for by tourists themselves. If there is a need to include it in the tour, visitors can book in advance.

Evening

After returning to the city center, visitors should not miss one of the famous attractions in Can Tho, Binh Thuy ancient house.

The house is located on Bui Huu Nghia street, about 8 km from the center. Binh Thuy ancient house is owned by the Duong family, built in 1870. This was the setting of famous movies such as Lover, Alluvial Roads, Tay Do Beauty. Opening hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sightseeing ticket costs 15,000 VND per person.

“This is a beautiful place to take photos, so tourists, especially women, should choose light clothes, maybe like the main character in the movie Lover , ” Vy added.

In the evening, one of the options is to walk and browse Ninh Kieu wharf night market, Tay Do night market, focusing mainly on Hai Ba Trung, Nguyen Thai Hoc, and Tran Phu streets. The market is usually open from after 4:00 p.m. until late at night, with many shops selling on mobile carts, snacks, baked goods, and fruit stalls.

End the day with a walk at Ninh Kieu pedestrian bridge, also known as Can Tho love bridge. The bridge was built in 2016, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations, especially in the evening.

Overnight at hotel in Ninh Kieu district along Hau river. This is a convenient location for travel and is also home to many hotels. The average price ranges from 500,000 VND to 800,000 VND per night.

Day 2

Morning and noon

Get up early to go to Cai Rang floating market. This is a characteristic feature of the lives of people in the Western river region. Trading activities are no longer as busy as before, there are very few boats buying and selling local agricultural products on the river, but if it is the first time coming to Can Tho, visitors should still have the experience of visiting the floating market.

Currently, boats on Hau River mainly serve tourists, selling food such as vermicelli noodles, noodles, coffee and fruits (usually pre-peeled ones for customers to eat on the spot).

Tourists arriving at Ninh Kieu wharf can immediately buy tickets to board the boat. Visitors can also book boat tickets to visit the floating market in advance on a tour or at the hotel. Visiting the floating market is free, but taking a boat will cost from 80,000 to 100,000 VND per person, depending on the type of boat and number of guests. Time to visit the floating market ranges from 2 to 4 hours.

Lunch at Hoi That restaurant. This is one of the authentic Western country rice restaurants located in the center of Can Tho City, in a small alley on Tran Binh Trong Street, Ninh Kieu District. Dishes at the restaurant include pickles, boiled vegetables dipped in braised sauce, fried eggs, stir-fried water spinach with garlic, pork belly mixed with garlic and chili, braised meat with shrimp paste, braised fish, and sour basa fish soup. The restaurant is a 4-level house, with two dining areas: indoor and outdoor. Food served in rustic earthenware dishes.

In the evening, spend time walking in the city center. Can Tho is the center and most modern city in the Mekong Delta. In addition to the places visited above, in the city there are also Can Tho Bridge, Ong Pagoda, Phat Hoc Pagoda, Can Tho Museum.

Sit in coffee and watch the sunset on Hau River at one of the shops like Song Hau Coffee, Song Tho Cuisine (both food and drink). Dinner at Thanh Giao duck restaurant in an alley on Ly Tu Trong street.

If you do not follow the above schedule, visitors can choose some alternative destinations such as: My Khanh tourist village, Ong De ecological area, Bang Lang stork garden. Note the distance and travel method to schedule accordingly. In the evening, if you don’t like walking, you can choose to take the tram around Can Tho at night or have dinner on a large cruise ship along the Hau River. Remember to bargain carefully at the night market and choose reputable boats.
