Reader Tran Le Tan Hieu shares a 5-day, 4-night journey full of experiences in Ha Giang, for the third time returning to the national territory.

On the check-in map of Vietnam, Ha Giang is the Northeastern destination that is popular with the world. This place is famous for the wild scenery of the mountains and forests, the highlight is the winding roads among the thousands of clouds. Unique indigenous culture and likable people also create an attraction for Ha Giang tourism.

The third time I set foot in the land of “flowers blooming on the rock”, I still couldn’t help admiring the pristine scenery of the thousands here. 5 days 4 nights is not a long journey, but it left me with many unforgettable impressions.

Ha Giang is a favorite destination for many moving followers.

Ideal timing

Each season, Ha Giang brings its own beauty and attraction. You can roam the rocky highlands at any time of the year.

From January to March, the mountains of Ha Giang are full of vitality with flowers blooming brightly everywhere such as peaches, plums, mustard greens, rice flowers. In the sweet spring sunshine, the cold weather, the beauty of the scenery makes visitors fall in love.

From May to June, Ha Giang is in the flood season. The waterfalls flowing on the green terraced fields create a charming picture of nature. During this season, people also start to rush into the fields, sowing the first seeds for the next crop.

Ha Giang is famous for many beautiful flower seasons.

From September to October, the golden season returns to Ha Giang. The golden ripe rice fields spreading throughout Hoang Su Phi attract tourists every year. Inhaling fragrant rice fragrant rice, immersing in a quiet space in the golden season is an unforgettable experience for devotees to move.

From October to December, Ha Giang welcomes visitors with pristine triangular flower season. Hunting for beautiful photos, participating in the triangular circuit flower festival are experiences that cannot be missed at this time.

Schedule, move

1.Schedule

Day 1: HCMC – Hanoi – Ha Giang City

Day 2: Ha Giang City – Dong Van

Day 3: Dong Van – Meo Vac

Day 4: Meo Vac – Du Gia

Day 5: Du Gia – Ha Giang City – Hanoi

Day 6: Hanoi – HCMC

2. Move

From Ho Chi Minh City, I took a plane to Hanoi at night, then took a night bus, arriving in Ha Giang early in the morning.

From Hanoi to Ha Giang, there are many car manufacturers to choose from. I have chosen two car companies, Bang Phan (return) and Ngoc Cuong (return).

In the afternoon, you can choose a palace car, one-person bed (about 300,000 dong) or a double bed (about 550,000 dong). The shuttle bus at Noi Bai airport, the latest flight is 22:30, so visitors need to arrange a reasonable schedule. Travel time from Hanoi to Ha Giang is about 5 hours.

In the afternoon, around 16 o’clock, there is no palace car, I choose Limousine, the seats are quite comfortable, the ticket price is about 300,000 VND. In addition, there is a shuttle bus to the center of Hanoi.

Motorbikes are my main means of transportation in Ha Giang. You can rent a car or go with the natives to explore the high mountains in the north. However, I choose to ride to challenge the steering wheel, admire the full beauty of the majesty on the difficult roads.

Most of the homestays in Ha Giang rent motorbikes. However, I rented a car at Giang Son’s house because the service here received a lot of good reviews. The homestay also offers accommodations for guests arriving in Ha Giang early in the morning. You can rest and do personal hygiene here before entering the journey to conquer the rocky plateau.

The host is quite enthusiastic about consulting destinations, giving you a reasonable experience schedule. The rental price for a digital car is 150,000 VND. In addition, you are also fully equipped with accessories such as bike straps, helmets, raincoats, rain boots, gloves …

Staying

The rustic homestay, combined with the majestic mountain scenery is a feature of Ha Giang tourism. Here are the accommodation that I have the opportunity to experience.

Homestay Dust (Dong Van) : Good design but located a bit far from the center of Dong Van town (about 1.5 km away). Those who want to experience the bustling atmosphere of Dong Van old town at night, I think this is not the ideal choice.

Vi Vi Homestay (Meo Vac) : Located in the cultural and tourist community of the Mong ethnic group in Pa Vi commune. This area concentrates many homestays with taste, with typical ancient architecture.

Vi Vi Homestay has a fairly large area compared to the rest of the homestay, clean rooms and toilets. This area is not near the center of Meo Vac town. You should pre-order the food at the homestay.

Du Gia Homestay (Du Gia) : My group book 2 lake view units, the room and toilet are quite clean. You can order food at the homestay or the central area. In the center there are many bars and cafes. By the time I arrived, it was already dark, so I did not have the opportunity to experience much.

Ha Giang owns resorts from popular to high-end.

Vist location

Milestone 0 : The first check-in point on the journey to discover Ha Giang. The landmark is located opposite 26-3 square, in the middle of the city center, so visitors can easily come here, save souvenir photos.

Quan Ba Sky Gate : Located at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level, this is an interesting place for visitors to enjoy the picturesque scenery of the mountains and forests of the Northeast. To reach the sky gate, park your car at the stop below and walk up the stairs.

Quan Ba twin mountain : Considered as a natural masterpiece of the rocky plateau. Coming here in the early morning, you can hunt for clouds, save beautiful moments of the empty nature, covered with fog.

Lonely tree : A destination is “hunted” by young people on the road from Quan Ba to Yen Minh. A special feature is that the lonely tree possesses a very large size, lying horizontally between the abyss and the pass with high cliffs. These are the check-in coordinates in Ha Giang that are loved by many travelers.

H’mong Village : The resort has just come into operation recently, some areas are still incomplete. You can book rooms here or visit with a ticket price of 50,000 VND. There is a tram to visit the interior. The infinity pool is a virtual living spot not to be missed in this resort.

Pao’s House: The house is nearly 100 years old, the setting in the movie “Story of Pao” is the stop of many tourists when arriving in Ha Giang. Wooden gate, pillar foot and stone fence, yin and yang tile roof print traces of time, creating a unique virtual living background.

King Meo Mansion : About 14 km from Dong Van old town, the mansion is recognized as a national monument in 1993. A prominent attraction with a campus of nearly 3,000 m2 and ancient architecture. Ticket price 20,000 VND.

The Vuong family residence is an attractive check-in point in Ha Giang.

Lao Xa Village : A small village about 6 km from Sung La. Coming here in the spring, you will have the opportunity to admire the full bloom of cherry blossoms, yellow cabbage and white plum on the roofs. Visitors can sleep over night here to hunt for dawn. However, Lao Xa is only a small village, so there are quite a few resorts.

Sung La Valley is known as the beautiful flower in the rocky highlands. This place is famous for blooming flower gardens and stone houses close together. You can easily save beautiful frames here.

Lot Lo Chai : Located at the foot of Dragon Mountain, only about 1 km from Lung Cu flagpole. With 90% of the population being Lo Lo, this place holds the full beauty of indigenous culture. Unfortunately, I cannot stay here to fully experience the life of Lo Lo Chai.

Lung Cu flagpole : 1,470 meters above sea level, Lung Cu flagpole is considered the sacred northernmost landmark of the country. To “touch” on this milestone, from Ha Giang City, you will go through a journey of nearly 200 km of rugged mountain road. On the way, visitors can see Lung Cu flagpole standing on the top of the high mountain, with a red flag with yellow star and stars blowing in the wind.

Dong Van Ancient Town : This is one of the rare bustling and busy places in Ha Giang. Most tourists choose to stay overnight in Dong Van because it is located at the intersection of the sightseeing areas. Compared to 5 years ago when I came here, the old town has become much urbanized, the surrounding houses are crowded with homestay and restaurants.

Many beautiful stops and sights in Ha Giang.

Tu San Alley, Nho Que River : Taking a boat on the Nho Que river, passing Tu San alley is an experience that attracts visitors to the Northeast. Take a boat ride to admire the scenery on both sides, you will admire the masterpiece of nature with an impressive view from the bottom up. In particular, on your journey down the water, you will pass through Tu San canyon, one of the unique geological formations in Vietnam.

My group rented a boat (including kayaking) for 500,000 VND. To get to the boat gathering on Nho Que River, you need to walk in the white cliffs or drive yourself down to about 4 km. If you are not confident in the steering wheel, you can hire indigenous people to bring them down the Nho Que River, which costs 150,000 VND both to and from.

Tu San Alley and Nho Que River is a virtual living background for visitors.

Ma Pi Leng : About 20 km from Dong Van, Ma Pi Leng belongs to the four great mountain passes of Vietnam. This is also one of the most beautiful check-in routes in Ha Giang when one side is rocky mountain, the other side is a deep pool with deep green Que Grapes. Ma Pi Leng stop or rocky muzzle area are suggestions for a beautiful angle.

Pa Vi Ha Village Culture and Tourism Community : 17km from Dong Van town, the village currently has 28 households with wooden-frame design, wall, and yin-yang roofing with 2 floors. The houses are adjacent to each other and most develop homestay services for tourists to visit and experience. Come here, do not forget to explore the culture of the Mong ethnic people.

Ban Ban Stream, Tham Lin cave : 15km from Mau Due center, Ban Ban stream is considered as a green pearl hidden in the rocky plateau of Ha Giang. Currently, the stream is still quite unspoiled and has not been exploited for tourism much. The road to here is not too difficult to go, but visitors need to be careful when crossing the degraded concrete road.

From Ban Ban stream, you can hire rafts to go to Tham Lin cave. Ticket price here is 20,000 VND / person. You should pre-order food and picnic here.

Ha Giang brother 17
The wild beauty of Sentence stream.

Du Gia : About 70 km from the tourist village of Pa Vi, Du Gia owns a dangerous check-in route, attracting locals and paparazzi. Especially, during the carpentry season, nature fascinates visitors by undulating cliffs and rows of crimson trees spreading along the path.

There are peaceful and poetic homestays such as Du Gia Homestay, Du Gia Paranoma. If you have a lot of time, you can trekking Tham Luong waterfall or experience shooting fish streams here.

Cuisine

The cuisine of the mountains and forests of the Northeast is quite diverse. The dishes that cannot be missed when coming here are Thang Co, five colors sticky rice, kitchen buffalo meat, Au Dau porridge, amaranth, rice rolls, roasted pork on the edge …

In general, the restaurants in Ha Giang make dishes quite easy to eat and the prices are also affordable. I have the opportunity to experience many quality restaurants and bars.

Some eating suggestions :

Toan Thuy Restaurant (Yen Minh)

Quan Quang Dung (Dong Van old town)

Aunt Lan Restaurant (Dong Van Old Street)

Nga Thuong (Mau Due)
