Beautiful scenery on the Northwest road

The peaceful mountainous region of DIEN BIEN appeared on both sides, buffaloes, and oxen on the porch, crops planted on the banks of a stream flowing along the road…

From the westernmost point of A Pa Chai, I have two options to continue my journey to discover the Northwest. The first way is to go through Pac Ma hydropower plant to Muong Te to go to Lai Chau, the second is from Muong Nhe to Muong Lay, Dien Bien.

Going in the direction of Muong Lay, the road is divided into two sections, the first part is from Muong Nhe and back on provincial road 131 to Cha Cang fork, this is also the intersection between provincial road 131 and provincial road 150 – connecting to Muong Lay. This stretch of road is more than 50 km long.

From Cha Cang junction, we turned left to go to provincial road 150, and the journey of discovery began… As soon as I asked for directions, I was advised to go by car. Fortunately, my companion on this journey is a two-wheeler pickup. Before us was a small road, mostly paved. But indeed if we do not ride high ground, this section is a big challenge when the road surface is quite bad. However, for travel enthusiasts, such road conditions are considered good.

The scene that opens up in front of you is a path going through old green forests. We took advantage of the opportunity to fill our lungs with the fresh air here. The wooden stilt houses on the roadside appeared before our eyes, we encountered ethnic minorities with unique costumes.

Arriving in front of a winding pass, our car rolled through one bend after another, with more than a dozen such sections to go up the towering mountain range. Finally, I also approached the top of the pass, stopped the car to see the whole mountain scenery.

Saying goodbye to the top of the pass, I started to go down the pass, the scenery on both sides of the road in the beautiful afternoon sunlight. The best part of this journey appeared: a meadow, on both sides of the road, were patches of reed grass, the scene was no different from the Mongolian steppe. I thought I was in heaven.

This is a journey that surprised me, because I did not expect such a beautiful place in Dien Bien. I believe that tourists who love to explore will enjoy walking on this road, taking a lot of beautiful pictures for themselves. It will be a great experience in the journey to discover the Northwest.
