KHANH HOA – The mountainous district west of Khanh Son has distinct attractions compared to the islands and coastline to the east.

Khanh Hoa tourism is famous for its beautiful beaches, bays and islands. But if you follow the edge of Hon Ba nature reserve from Cam Ranh city, along Provincial Road 9, you will encounter a different space in the mountainous district of Khanh Son.

Khanh Son is the homeland of the Raglai ethnic group with cultural features of the Central Highlands such as gongs, gongs, and Chapi instruments. With an altitude of about 800 m above sea level, Khanh Son has a cool and pleasant climate. The highlight that creates the attraction of this place is the wildness on the passes, waterfalls and clouds.

Phuong Trinh, 24 years old, a content creator in Ho Chi Minh City, was born and raised in Khanh Son. With the desire to contribute to her homeland, she stopped her full-time job to focus on developing eco-tourism in Khanh Son. As an experiential travel enthusiast, Trinh finds it interesting to survey and find out different corners of her homeland with her colleagues. At first, they decided to exploit picnic activities at Ta Gu waterfall and hunt for rattan in Ba Cuong Bac commune.

Sharing about cloud hunting in Khanh Son, Trinh excitedly: “A province famous for the sea, but having a cloud hunting spot with a chilly climate, it’s great. Along the way from the top of Khanh Son pass to Ba Cluster Bac commune , you will have the opportunity to see the sea of ​​clouds under the valley. This is not a specific destination, but a route. You can wander and stop where you like.”

Trinh noted that visitors should leave early and be at the cloud hunting spot at about 6:30. From 7am to 9am is usually when clouds appear at the foot of the mountain, but this depends on the weather. “On days when it’s not sunny, windy, and it doesn’t rain in the afternoon, it’s hard to see clouds the next morning. In the rainy season, when the day is sunny, there’s light rain in the afternoon and there’s enough humidity, the next morning it’s easy to see a sea of ​​clouds.” Trinh shared.

Having hunted clouds many times in Cau Dat (Da Lat), Trinh commented that the sea of ​​​​clouds here has its own characteristics: “The sea of ​​​​clouds in Khanh Son is not only present once a day like Da Lat or the Northwest, but often appears many times. from 7am to 9am, it’s like a cloud in Khanh Son for people sleeping in.”

Cloud hunting spot is about 20 km from Ta Gu waterfall. Trinh advises visitors to walk in the direction of the suspension bridge after the end of the road, although it is farther but safer than the other direction, which has to climb rocks and wade a lot.

Here, visitors will be able to see the waterfall flowing down from a height of about 40 meters and bathing in jade-colored water. The experience will be complete with a meal by the Koroa stream with grilled meat, lam rice and ria (a cool vegetable picked in the mountains of the Raglai people). If going in early June, visitors also have the opportunity to enjoy the famous fruits of the region. Picnic services include meals, SUP boating, overnight tents…

“The best time to visit Khanh Son is in the middle of the year, easy to hunt clouds and swim in waterfalls. Summer is also the fruit season in Khanh Son, with mangosteen, grapefruit, rambutan, and especially durian”, Trinh said. advise.

Opened in May, this place has now attracted a lot of visitors. Besides Khanh Hoa people, there were tourists from HCMC and Hanoi. Trinh wants to create a stable ecosystem to promote camping and luxury camping in Khanh Son.

Trinh also wants to convey her views on experiential tourism: “If you travel with a friend who is a local, it’s great. You will be transformed into a local people roaming the streets, coming to the city. things not everyone knows, listen to things not everyone can hear”.
