Chu Duc Viet came to Cao Bang from September 6 to 9, impressed by the beauty of early autumn, the rice fields turning golden next to limestone blocks, waterfalls…

Chu Duc Viet (35 years old, Hanoi), and a group of friends just had a camping trip, watching the autumn of Cao Bang. Viet travels by 7-seat car, the first destination is Ban Gioc waterfall, located in Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district, about 20 km from the district center. Ban Gioc Waterfall along with Pac Bo National Historic Site or Nguom Ngao Cave are famous destinations not to be missed when coming to Cao Bang.

Ban Gioc is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Vietnam with cascades of cascades, spanning hundreds of meters. September-October is the ideal time to explore Ban Gioc waterfall when the waterfalls flow with white foam. At the same time, the water of the Quay Son stream is jade color with sunlight shining in the autumn, bringing a magical scene.

Viet said that he was fascinated by the natural beauty of Cao Bang, including a green rice valley surrounded by mountains, passing through Tra Linh town, Trung Khanh district.

The fanciful mist at sunset on the undulating mountains in the distance creates a “dreamlike” scene at Tra Linh. “I like to enjoy every moment that nature gives me, the above scene is only found in the northern highlands, so I can’t help but take pictures,” he said.

Green and yellow fields surround Tra Linh residential area, where the main ethnic groups such as Tay and Nung live. In the ripe rice season, Tra Linh, Trung Khanh town, Ngoc Con, Ngoc Khe or Phong Nam communes are considered as “tourist paradise”, always attracting many tourists and photographers to admire and take pictures. From Ma Phuc pass, Viet turned in the direction of provincial road 205 towards Tra Linh to reach Thung Mountain (the Tay name is Phja Piót) and Nam Cha lake. Located in Ban Danh hamlet, Quoc Toan commune, Tra Linh, Tung Mountain (locally called Mat Than Nui) is a masterpiece created during the geological tectonic process tens of millions of years ago. Each season around Nam Cha lake has its own beauty, the water recedes leaving mounds and small winding streams that surround the yellowed grass. Here, Viet encounters the scene of people gathering firewood and grazing animals, while tourists camping, trekking
and cycling to enjoy the scenery.

Clouds drifting through the valley near the valley of the mountain carry the breath of autumn, attracting visitors.

Chu Duc Viet (left) and a group of friends check-in by flycam on the way to Hung Dao commune, Bao Lac district. The planned itinerary is to camp to welcome the full moon of the Mid-Autumn Festival. But when the group arrived at Bao Lac, it rained heavily. “Before scheduling to Cao Bang, we watched the weather, so our psychology didn’t affect when it rained, we couldn’t camp,” he said.

Each place in Cao Bang has its own beauty. In addition to enjoying the beautiful scenery, Viet also learns about the cultural lifestyle of the local people, such as the San Chi ethnic group in Bao Lac, they live in a house on stilts, designed in the style of 4 solid roofs and kept cattle underneath. The San Chi people farm, raise buffaloes, cows, pigs, and chickens, and do handicrafts such as knitting, forging; self-sufficient production products.

Bao Lac autumn is also the time when the rice begins to ripen, impressive with the terraced
fields in Hung Dao commune.

Viet said that at the time of going, it was not possible to camp, but there was Culture Week – Bao Lac Market, so the group decided to find a hotel near the center of Bao Lac to conveniently visit this market. “End the visit to Cao Bang autumn with many memories and specialties, but I chose to buy black jelly as a gift,” he shared.
