The place where 28 ethnic groups live

According to the 2019 census, the province has more than 530,000 people. In the province, there are 28 ethnic groups, the largest ethnic groups are Tay, Nung, Dao, Mong, Kinh, in addition, are San Chay, Lo Lo, Hoa, Ngai… So coming to Cao Bang, visitors can visit traditional craft villages of ethnic people such as the Tay handicraft village in Phu Ngoc commune, Ha Quang district, or Phia Thap incense village, Quang Uyen district. In addition, visitors should not miss out on community tourism experiences such as Lo-Lo cultural area, Khuoi Khon village, Kim Cuc commune, Bao Lac district or the place where the identity of the Nung An people is kept, Pac Rang hamlet, Phuc commune. UNESCO Global Geopark

On April 12, 2018, at the 204th session of the UNESCO Executive Council, Non-Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark was recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark, becoming the second global geopark in the world. in Vietnam after Dong Van Stone Plateau (Ha Giang).

Global Geopark in Cao Bang covers an area of ​​more than 3,275 square kilometers, located in 9 districts. It has 215 ranked historical and cultural relics and 130 geological heritage sites with unique limestone landscapes with various shapes of towers, cones, valleys, caves, lake systems, rivers, caves. underground connection… In addition, it is also a place to store many geological heritages such as paleontological fossils, types of minerals, faults… proving the development history of up to 500 million years. Going to the global geopark, do not forget to visit Phia Oac and Phia Den eco-tourism areas, Thang Hen lake complex, Nguom Ngao cave, Ban Gioc waterfall…

The border with China is the longest in Vietnam

Of the 7 provinces of Vietnam bordering China, Cao Bang has the longest border, more than 333 km. The North and Northeast borders Guangxi province (China). In which, Ban Gioc waterfall is also located between the border. Of the three cascades, the secondary waterfall is located in Vietnam with a height of 30 meters.

The largest natural waterfall in Southeast Asia

With a height of 53 m, a width of 300 m, divided into 3 floors, Ban Gioc waterfall is one of the largest natural waterfalls in Southeast Asia and is in the 4th position among the largest waterfalls located on the border. The waterfall is located in Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district, originating from the Quai Son river.

In the rainy season, from April to September, the water flows fast, throwing white foam. From afar, visitors can hear the sound of rumbling water. In the dry season from October to March, the waterfall is calmer with turquoise color. Here, visitors can experience sitting on a boat to explore the waterfall landscape, with the price of 50,000 VND/person.

There is a lake that disappears in the dry season

Nam Tra Lake at the foot of Mat Than Mountain (Quoc Toan Commune, Tra Linh District) has high water levels in the rainy season (June-August) and drought in the dry season. This place is also known by many tourists as “Vietnam’s great love cup” because of its pristine scenery and turquoise water.

Here, visitors can also visit Mat Than mountain or puncture mountain, formed from the neo-tectonic period, by a raised cave door. From the main road to here, visitors will go about 15 minutes through the trail, where the Tay people live in Ban Danh commune. This place has houses with yin and yang tiles and rice and cornfields.

Lenin Stream and Mount Mack

Pac Bo historical site in Truong Ha commune, Ha Quang district is associated with the years of revolutionary activities of President Ho Chi Minh in Cao Bang. Here, visitors will see the clear green Lenin stream, where Uncle used to fish.

About 40 steps up from the road along the stream bank is Coc Po cave, where Uncle Ho stayed during his activities in Pac Bo. The entrance of the cave is small and narrow, only one person can pass through. The inside of the cave is wet and cold due to the groundwater. Today, in the cave, there is still a mirror, also known as Uncle’s bed when he was here. The cluster of relics also has many other attractions such as Nguom Vai cave, the foundation of Mr. La Thanh’s house, landmark 108 – the place demarcating the Vietnam-China border and Khuoi Nam relic cluster.
