If anyone asks which season is the most beautiful to travel to the Central Highlands, the answer is that regardless of the season, this land is beautiful in its own way. From January to March, the Central Highlands is dyed pink by the cherry apricot trees. From April onwards, the pure white color and the sweet aroma of coffee flowers bloom throughout the mountains and forests of the Central Highlands. Coming to this land in the last months of the year, people often say that there is no need to go far, just go to the Central Highlands, you can also see Korean autumn when yellow lily and wild sunflowers bloom.
The trip to the Central Highlands is not simply a resort trip, but it is also an experience with many new and unique activities. Visiting famous landmarks, learning about the culture and life of the people, tasting delicious food and sipping a cup of coffee in the early morning are unforgettable experiences. Here are the spots I stopped by in my journey to discover the Central Highlands.
Chu Dang Ya volcano
Chu Dang Ya is a volcano that formed tens of millions of years ago. The road to the top of the mountain is like a fairy scene, with rows of yellow wild sunflowers , a green canopy, and in the distance, the sun peeks out from behind the majestic mountains. Standing from the top of the mountain looking down, you can see the beautiful Pleiku mountains and forests with the green color of trees, flowers and fertile red soil typical of the Central Highlands.
Dray Sap Waterfall
The Central Highlands is not only famous for its mountains but rivers and lakes and especially waterfalls are also destinations not to be missed. Located between Buon Ma Thuot city and Dak Nong province, the majestic Dray Sap waterfall is located on the Serepok river. Crossing the forest canopy, climbing up and down through the rocks, you will see in front of you is the white foam Dray Sap waterfall.
Coffee World Museum
Only in operation for a few years, but the Coffee World Museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions. The museum has an architecture inspired by the long house of the Ede people and the communal roof of the Central Highlands. Here, visitors will be able to visit and learn the history of coffee in Vietnam as well as the world by scanning a QR code – a different form compared to many museums. In particular, every day the museum will serve a free coffee, creating a new and attractive experience.
Buon Don
Buon Don is famous for hunting and taming wild elephants. After spending a month hunting elephants, the gru (elephant hunters) tame them. Elephants will be brought back and become a member of the village. Coming to Don village, tourists experience many eco-tourism services with elephants, instead of riding elephants before to contribute to the conservation of this animal species locally.
Going over the suspension bridges is also a unique experience. The bridges here are crossed over rows of giant ancient trees, connecting Buon Don with a small island in the middle of the Serekop river. The suspension bridge swaying to the rhythm of footsteps, looking at the old trees, and listening to the flowing water is probably one of the most interesting experiences when coming to the Central Highlands.
