THUA THIEN – HUE “Summer Palace” of the Hue court is like an ancient European castle, the setting of Bach Tra Vien in the movie “The Old Lady” 5.

Last March, the movie “The old girl has many tricks 5” premiered, causing a fever with beautiful shimmering Hue frames, following the success of a series of film projects that chose Hue as the main backdrop. Bach Tra Vien villa in the movie is not a strange name but a part of the famous An Dinh palace.

Bach Tra Vien studio is 500 m2 wide, built behind Khai Tuong floor, on the background of the old Cuu Tu Dai theater of An Dinh palace. To avoid impact on the monument, the entire floor was raised by 20 cm, then tiled and planted with flowers.

The film crew has invested more than 2 billion VND to build Bach Tra Vien garden, with the highlight of 2,000 white tea trees brought from the North, in addition to planting some typical Hue fruits such as bar tea, persimmon, crockery orange, lemon…

The garden continues to be fitted with fountains, goddess statues… a unique combination of European ancient architecture with Asian traditional architecture, to show the luxury and wealth of the owner. The mansion in the movie. A rather special feature here is that the An Dinh Palace itself is a work carrying the rare Asian-European architectural interference of Hue Ancient Capital.

Unique murals in the hall, depicting the architecture of 6 mausoleums of 6 Nguyen Dynasty kings were also put on film.

15 rooms out of a total of 22 rooms of An Dinh palace have been used by the film crew of The Old Lady, and redesigned in a regal manner. In which many scenes are the familiar hall on the 1st floor of Khai Tuong floor, which is where the bronze statue of King Bao Dai was when he was still Prince Vinh Thuy.

Compared to the “summer palace” of the Hue court, An Dinh palace has the appearance of a magnificent ancient European castle, but has traditional Hue royal motifs. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage, An Dinh Palace is considered a unique artistic architectural work, representing the neoclassical school of architecture in Vietnam in the early 20th century.

Located on the bank of An Cuu River, number 97 Phan Dinh Phung, An Dinh Palace was formerly known as Phung Hoa Palace, which was the palace built by King Dong Khanh specifically for King Khai Dinh to live when he was a crown prince. King Khai Dinh ascended the throne, An Dinh palace was handed over to Prince Vinh Thuy, later King Bao Dai. In the middle of the courtyard is Trung Lap communal house with octagonal shape, acting as a “front” which is a familiar architectural feature in Hue, often seen in palaces, mausoleums and even people’s houses. In the communal house is a bronze statue of King Khai Dinh.

There used to be many construction items in An Dinh palace, after more than 100 years of history and war, today only 3 buildings remain intact: the main gate, Trung Lap communal house and Khai Tuong floor. In which, the main gate represents the quintessence of decorative art embossed Hue crockery and glass, with bold oriental motifs such as dragons, tigers…

Khai Tuong Lau is the highlight for the entire architecture of An Dinh palace, the name of the floor was given by King Khai Dinh with the meaning of the place where auspicious beginnings arise. Khai Tuong Lau is built on 3 floors in the style of a European castle, with symbols, reliefs, motifs in Roman style interwoven with traditional Hue royal motifs.

At the end of the filming process, the film crew handed over the entire filming set to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, with the hope that this place will become a check-in point and a new highlight for visitors. when visiting An Dinh Palace. Follow vnexpress
