Coming to Ha Giang for the first time in the last days of the year, it was cold and cloudy, but Anh Tai still harvested a set of photos taken by flycam.

Le Van Anh Tai, 25 years old, originally from Quang Nam, currently lives and works in Da Nang. Photography turned from a hobby to a passion and became a profession of the young man right after graduating from university in Hue. From November to December 2021, Tai has a long business trip in the North combined with a tour schedule of provinces in the East – Northwest. In it, the guy spent 7 days roaming the streets of Ha Giang .

Tai’s trip starts from Da Nang to Ninh Binh, the second day from Ninh Binh goes straight to Ha Giang. This is also the first time that a guy from the Central region has come to Ha Giang, even though he has traveled and worked in the northern mountainous areas many times. Before going, Tai thought that he could go all the way to Ha Giang in 5 days, but in fact, the way and the points are far apart, so the journey lasts 7 days (December 10-16, 2021).

The first time I came to Ha Giang, it was winter, and the weather was very foggy, so it was difficult for Tai to take satisfactory pictures. There were places where Tai’s group had to stay for better weather to try to take the best pictures possible. Especially when taking photos at high altitude, Tai encountered many difficulties because flying the drone in the fog, mountainous terrain and strong winds caused the sensor to warn of obstacles continuously and risk losing the direction of the drone.

However, the interesting thing is that the local people who met the guy in the Central region who were filming and taking drones were always curious about asking questions. They often ask funny questions such as “Is this flying on the mountainside, on the other side”, “is this (expensive) as much as a buffalo” or “maybe equal to the whole field”…

According to Tai, to show all the majesty of nature, he took panoramas, many pictures, many angles. “Don’t miss any angle because there are times when it looks very ordinary but later on it is interesting. Even taking different angles, sometimes helps you to discover beautiful and strange things,” he said. .

“To show the majesty of Ha Giang, photos from flycams are the most reasonable choice. If you pay attention, you will find that you take a lot of panoramas, but mostly in portrait format 4:5 and limited. Image distortion is very likely,” Tai shared.

After 7 days of traveling in Ha Giang, Ma Pi Leng pass is the destination that leaves the most impression on this guy because of its beauty, grandeur, and ruggedness. On the way to cross the pass, Tai’s group drank coffee on the top, looked out at the mountains and rivers below, and had to say “unbelievably one of the four great peaks of the pass” of the North.
