QUANG NINH – The perforated mountain similar to the famous mountain in Cao Bang is a new place, attracting tourists to Ha Long.
Referring to the puncture mountain, many people will immediately think of the god eye mountain in Cao Bang , but few know that right near the center of Ha Long city, there is also a mountain with a similar structure.
Located about 10 km from the central square of Ha Long city along the sea border in the direction of Cam Pha, this puncture mountain is Khe Ca mountain because it is located near the road of the same name, in Ha Phong ward.
According to the website of the National Administration of Tourism, Khe Ca is a large limestone mountain that was formed along with the formation of Ha Long Bay about 250-280 million years ago. The mountain is located at the present height as a result of the process of lifting and lowering many times from the continent to a sea depression and through a long time of accretion. The hole through this mountain is a flattened oval natural cave, with a diameter of more than 20 m, located at an altitude of about 50 m above the national highway.
The mountain is located in the middle of a natural gray-white bow-shaped limestone mountain range, around the top of the mountain and the mouth of the cave covered with rare plants typical of Ha Long such as the golden lotus flower, the purple rhododendron. , mountains and some wild vines. At the foot of the mountain, people grow apples mixed with mango, banana and casuarina creating a green space.
According to locals, this mountain has existed for a long time, but because it is not on the main axis of Highway 18, very few tourists know about it. Since Quang Ninh opened the Ha Long – Cam Pha sea route in 2022 running across the mountain, and a real estate project to build villas right on Khe Ca street with mountain views, this location has been popular. Visitors know and come to check in.
Mr. Tran Dinh Huy (29 years old, Dong Nai) with his family on a spring trip in Quang Ninh on the 5th day of the Lunar New Year said: “My family was on the way to a hot mineral bath when we happened to pass this mountain. I thought in the North, only Cao Bang had perforated mountains, I didn’t expect that in Quang Ninh there were also such beautiful mountains.” The mountain is located right next to the sea border, which is very convenient for tourists to stop to take pictures.
Ms. Vu Thu Ha (28 years old, Quang Ninh) said that she had been to Ha Long many times, but only now knew about the punctured mountain because there was only a sea border running through it. “Looking from afar the mountain is like a god’s eye, surrounded by limestone mountains and small streams with reeds growing around, the landscape is harmonious,” she said.
Although there is a trail to climb up to the cave, but because the mountain is owned by private land and is close to the military area of the Quang Ninh mobile police battalion, the mountain cannot be exploited to visit and use fly cams. A local resident said that the back of the mountain is a small valley planted with fruit trees and a natural freshwater lake.
