Linh Quang Vihara (Hon Mot Pagoda) belongs to the Mahayana mendicant sect founded by Master Hue Nhut. His name is Ho Cang, name is Ho Chi Thanh, was born in 1903 in Binh Thuan province. When he was a child, he studied Confucianism with his great-grandfather Truong Gia Mo. Then Phan Boi Chau’s Duy Tan movement emerged, he participated in many activities to support the movement. After many events in his family, he realized that life is just an illusion, impermanent, and he went to Ba Den Mountain in Tay Ninh to make a vow to become a monk and practice the path of liberation.

Recently, in Long Hai tours, there is one more destination: Hon Mot pagoda. The pagoda is located next to the beach, not far from beaches and resorts, so it is quite convenient for visiting. After a day of struggling with the waves, when the sun is up, it is probably reasonable to go to the temple to walk, admire the scenery and contemplate the feeling of serenity in the Zen sect.

Tam Quan Hon Mot Pagoda
Pagoda name : The official name of the pagoda is  Linh Quang vihara , the common name is  Hon Mot pagoda. I do not understand why it has this name, because the temple is located in the mainland, not an island in the sea (in Nha Trang, there is Hon Mot island). In addition, the name Linh Quang Vihara has the same name as another temple also in Ba Ria – Vung Tau (located at Truong Dinh Street, Vung Tau City). In District 4, Ho Chi Minh City also has Linh Quang Vihara. The vihara in District 4 is the origin of this monastery in Long Hai. The way to the temple:  Follow provincial road 44A (coastal road), when you see a road and a sign board on the left to go up Minh Dam mountain, turn left. About a few hundred meters to the temple gate. (Because the temple grounds are large and located on a high hill, you can see the pagoda from outside the provincial road).

Hon Mot Pagoda is located on a hill, with an area of 1,600 square meters. The pagoda was founded by Venerable Thich Tu Giang in 1993 and has been abbot since then. The space of the temple has clusters of sculptures and architectural works scattered in the natural setting, creating a feeling of relaxation and comfort for leisure travelers.

Maitreya Buddha Statue

Shakyamuni Buddha statue carved from a tree

Stepping on the pedestal of the statue of Buddha, we can enjoy the panoramic view of Long Hai sea

It’s a pity that the overhanging forest trees obscure the view, so the view overlooking the sea is not as expected

From inside the temple, you can see the three-way gate. The landscape is a bit… messy.
In the temple, where the meditation room is, there are 2 wax figures like real people.

Wax statue of the Most Venerable Master, Thuong Tuyen Ha Hoa contributed to the construction of Linh Quang Vihara.

wax Hoa thuongThich From Jiang, the incumbent abbot of the Vihara Linh Quang
I, and perhaps some other friends, feel a little repulsive when I see the current abbot having my own statue cast in the temple. Ignoring the ripples and some unsatisfactory points, Linh Quang Vihara (Hon Mot Pagoda) is a place worth visiting after being satisfied with the waves.
