Impressive Ivory Falls
Xuan Luong commune, Yen The district (Bac Giang) has potential for ecotourism and community tourism with 400 ha of regenerated forest. There are not only many ancient communal houses, temples and pagodas here; there is an old Lim tree in Xuan Lung village; Ven village’s green tea specialties also have a system of beautiful streams and waterfalls, of which the highlight is Nga waterfall.

From the district center to Nga waterfall about 23 km. To reach this beautiful waterfall, visitors have to go through the Ivory Pass forest. The temperature in the forest is always about 3 degrees Celsius from the outside. Mr. Vu Xuan Quy, a local man with more than 20 years of attachment to the forest, was also the first person to explore the Nga waterfall eco-tourism. Right at the door of the forest, Mr. Quy built sticky houses on stilts, cellars, baths, bridges, roads … In some sections of the stream, he built dams to block water to create water tanks. Many visitors can not help admiring the natural beauty of the forest with hundreds of rare species of plants and animals. Along the way, tourists can admire the Nga Deo forest with many ancient trees and vines, the rocks like a group of forest elephants prostrate and immerse themselves in the cool water flowing down from the Nga waterfall.

From Mr. Quy’s stilt house, walk 500m along the stream to reach Nga waterfall. According to the local elderly, the name of Nga waterfall is not only named after the name of Deo Nga forest, but also because the water flowing down from a height of 30m is white like ivory. On the way to Nga waterfall there are a number of other beautiful waterfalls. In the summer, many locals and students in different places often come here to cool off.

Deo Nga forest belongs to Xoan village. Mr. Tran Van Dinh, Cao Lan ethnicity, Head of Xoan village said: “The locality has always focused on propagating people to keep forests and protect the Nga waterfall. Thanks to that, the forest still retains its natural beauty. Ivory Falls is the highlight of the forest.

Over the past time, Yen The district authority has researched and found that Nga waterfall is associated with Xoan village, and Ven village has a lot of potentials to develop ecotourism and community tourism. In addition to the beautiful landscape, there is a Cao Lan ethnic community that retains its own identity. Besides visiting, visitors come here also enjoy specialties: Ven village green tea, black fillet sticky rice, bitter bamboo shoots, stir-fried pork, chicken, cake … It is known that Yen The district has invested in building to build Nga waterfall tourist spot with the upgrading of infrastructure such as improving the nearly 8km long route from Highway 17 to the central area. When the transportation system is more convenient, this place will certainly attract a large number of tourists.
