HO CHI MINH CITY – Every afternoon, people queue for nearly 200 meters waiting for nearly half an hour to buy bread at a shop on Le Thi Rieng Street (District 1).

Nearly half a month now when the city eases the distance, implements the “new normal”, the shop has reopened. as crowded as before.”

Inside the shop is about 30 m2, nearly a dozen employees who choose bread, remove the filling, cut vegetables, cucumbers … to serve customers in time. Some employees have to go out to guide customers to park and queue to ensure distance.

“Banh mi at the shop costs 58,000 VND per loaf and only sells for one price. Inside there are 13 kinds of fillings such as pate, ham, ham, sausage, sausage, pork char siu … “, Mr. Huy said while making the cake. Before the epidemic, this loaf of bread cost 48,000 VND.

A loaf of bread weighs about 400 grams, full of foods inside. According to the shop owner, all kinds of fillings eaten together are homemade according to their own recipe, so they have a unique flavor that has attracted customers for many years.

The shop employs 16 people, each group does one job to ensure timely customer service.

Previously, the store put vegetables, chili, and cucumber in the bread, but now put it in a bag. This makes the loaf less full, makes it faster, and meets many ways of enjoying diners.

The shop sells from 9 am to 7 pm every day, the peak is usually in the afternoon, arranged in two rows stretching hundreds of meters. According to Mr. Huy, because most of the ingredients are homemade while the number of customers is large and the staff is limited, it is not possible to open more sales in the early morning.

“I’ve been eating bread here for nearly a decade now, I’m used to the taste, so I buy from unfamiliar places. I have to visit here at least once a week to buy a few loaves for the whole family to enjoy,” said Ms. Kim Uyen (district) 4) talk while queuing.
