HO CHI MINH CITY – Festival introduces tourists to three regions’ cuisine, special art performances, promotions… from August 25-28.
Festival “Culinary Culture, Delicacies Saigontourist Group 2022” will open at 5:30pm on August 25 and open to the public from 4pm to 10pm every day, at Van Thanh Tourist Area, Ho Chi Minh City. Here are the activities at the festival.
Honoring the cuisine of the three regions
About 30 member units representing 4-5 star hotels, resorts and restaurants belonging to Saigontourist Group in Ho Chi Minh City and many localities will bring to the festival about 300 typical regional dishes and drinks. All delicacies are expressed through the skill of experienced chefs and the quintessence of traditional craftsmanship associated with the cuisine.
The main idea will be vividly explained through the re-enactment of the culinary space, with booths designed into three clusters North – Central – South. The stalls introduce and sell specialties and delicacies according to each region, display typical ingredients, traditional craft villages… The event also promotes the introduction of new dishes and drinks to meet the needs of green, clean, healthy today.
Coming to the cluster of food stalls in the North, diners will have the opportunity to enjoy a collection of typical delicacies such as vermicelli, vermicelli with shrimp paste, fried rice in Hanoi, spring rolls with crab, chicken noodle soup, and grilled fish vermicelli. Nest, sour meat Thanh Son (Phu Tho), squid and white sticky rice with Ha Long squid, vermicelli vermicelli in Ha Long (Quang Ninh)… Equally attractive are the Northwest highland specialties such as grilled chicken. Mac Khen, grilled meat with mac honey leaves, grilled meat with bamboo tubes, buffalo meat in the kitchen, bamboo rice with bamboo tubes.
Cluster of food stalls in the Central region will invite diners with many delicious dishes, bold Central flavor, from Nghe An such as Thanh Chuong stir-fried shrimp, eel soup, eel sausage, and deep-fried cool fish. Going to the South, the cuisine of the sunny and warm land will attract diners with rustic dishes with the taste of the Mekong Delta such as fried shrimp and seaweed salad – rice cake, crispy perch salad – cake Shrimp puff, avocado salad, vermicelli, fried snail with coconut, grilled snail with pepper. Southern cuisine is also attractive by countless snacks such as Bac Lieu silkworm cake, Can Tho pandan leaf cake, Ben Tre worm cake, Banh Xeo, and Banh Khot. The fresh seafood dishes from Con Dao, Phu Quoc will stimulate the taste of diners. Many unique folklore activities
The festival will be filled with a festive atmosphere imbued with the folklore of the three regions, with the re-enactment of three clusters of craft village spaces – country markets, folk games and performances of traditional art forms.
Right at the welcome gate area, visitors will admire the fan dance, Khmer pentatonic music, and the paranung musical instrument of the Cham people. The parade program that takes place every day during the 4 days of the festival will be bustling with folk tunes of Quan Ho, Hue Ho, Southern Don Ca Tai Tu, five-tone music, the sound of paranung drums or fan dances, performances of folk songs and dances. folktales of the art of singing boi.
If the Northern region invites you with Quan ho folk songs, the Central region with Hue ho, Bai Choi, the Southern region is inspired by many neo-classical songs, or attracts with the unique Khmer monkey dance. .
The craft village area is a demonstration space for winemaking, sedge mat weaving, brocade, pottery, tofu, soy milk, cakes, vermicelli… carrying, needing to tear, baskets, mats, the village’s top water stall, bustling by the sound of street vendors. The folk games area recalls childhood memories with blindfolded pig beating, crab shaking, bingo, chess, dog chess, fish fighting, coconut leaf tie, ball drop, ball toss, darts, etc. throw bottle necklaces, throw coins… In addition, this area also has performance games such as cooking contest, walking on stilts, jumping rope.
At this year’s festival, famous chefs and culinary experts will interact with the audience; Evaluate and comment on dishes, organize cocktail nights, pool parties, demonstrate and teach pho cocktail making, introduce molecular cuisine in Vietnamese dishes.
