In addition to the flower fields in the gateway district, Bac Lieu also has two more community-based tourist attractions that attract many visitors, an ecological area with many folk games and a farm in the forest.
From the Lunar New Year until now, tourists from Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Long An, Vinh Long, Kien Giang… have flocked to Soc Trang, Bac Lieu and Ca Mau to visit pagodas, visit spiritual tourist sites, and birth zones. Field of flowers on arid land
On weekends, the road to Giac Hoa pagoda in Chau Thoi commune, Vinh Loi district (Bac Lieu) is busy with cars. After visiting the temple, many tourists come back to eat a free vegetarian meal and then walk about 50 meters to the flower field next to the rice field in Xom Lon hamlet to check in.
Ms. Huynh Thanh Tuyen (owner of Huynh flower field) said that a few years ago, the couple was given a 1.2-hectare plot of land by their parents to grow rice. Because the land is located on high mounds, farming continuously fails.

Households near Ms. Tuyen’s house renovate the hilly land and remove part of the topsoil. This surplus land, Ms. Tuyen is owned by her neighbors, so the husband and wife hire someone to take them home to build fields for cultivation.
At first, Ms. Tuyen planned to breed guava because her family had more than a hectare of land to grow this fruit. However, the wife had the idea of planting flowers for her children and neighbors to come and have fun at the weekend, so Tuyen’s husband nodded.
“Besides guava, I plan to plant more coconuts for my mother to have more income, but I also like the beautiful flowers. In April 2021, I worked on the soil until August, and tried to plant a few species of flowers such as lotus, water lily, persimmon, sombrero, sunflower, ten o’clock… Water hyacinth was picked up from the river and released into the canals to collect water. This variety blooms beautiful purple flowers all year round, “said Ms. Tuyen.
Near the Lunar New Year, the woman from the Duke of Bac Lieu sees the flowers in the arid land and blooms beautifully. Many young people in Bac Lieu city and neighboring districts of Soc Trang province rode motorbikes to the flower fields to take souvenir photos, so Ms. Tuyen decided to expand the area of flower beds to welcome tourists.
In order to always have colorful flowers in the field, Tuyen and her husband hired someone to divide 1.2 hectares of land into 3 flower areas with 3 different ages. Each flower area blooms for 45 days, when the flowers fade, area 2 will have new flowers and area 3 will follow the same.

“Besides flowers, I plant more passion fruit and bananas to create a peaceful countryside scene. Visitors to the flower garden also often go to the guava garden to check in and pick fruit. Currently, I only sell soft drinks to guests and have the idea to grow wild vegetables for tourists to enjoy on the spot with rustic dishes,” the owner of the flower field shared.
Rent mangrove forest as a tourist destination
Leaving the Huynh flower field, which is 4 km from Bac Lieu city, tourists often go to a strong shrimp farm in Vinh Hau A commune, Hoa Binh district (Bac Lieu). This community tourist site is located in the mangrove forest, about 15 km from the center of Bac Lieu city.
Bui Quoc Duong and his wife are from Kien Giang. After graduating from university with a degree in finance and banking, Mr. Duong and Ms. Luu Kieu Diem did not go to work in an office, but went to Bac Lieu to rent land to open a farm and release shrimp under the mangrove canopy.
Coming to the healthy shrimp farm, visitors enjoy the cool space, relax, mingle with nature, and float on floating rafts. After catching shrimp, tourists go to the raft to sing and enjoy the typical western dishes.
Before leaving Bac Lieu, tourists often do not forget to enter Chau Hung town of Vinh Loi district to visit Phuong Nam eco-tourism area. Here, in addition to experiencing folk games, visitors can take souvenir photos with nostalgic memorabilia and enjoy unique cuisine from rustic dishes.
