Memorable ice hunts

In recent days, with low temperatures and white frost, destinations in the northern mountainous area attract the attention of tourists.

Excited to see many people check-in the icy scenery, Ngoc Lan and her best friend quickly packed up, and traveled a distance of nearly 100 km to Phia Oac (Cao Bang). The first time she witnessed the rare phenomenon, the forest trees were covered in transparent ice, she could not believe that Cao Bang where she lived could be so cold.

Ngoc Lan chose to go home during the day because it was difficult to rent a room at this time. There were many cars on the road, so some sections were heavily jammed, she had to leave her motorbike underneath and accept to walk a few kilometers to the check-in place. Arriving at the place, the female tourist was delighted by the white scenery and took many pictures as a souvenir.

Traffic jam, lack of room

Not only Phia Oac, in recent days, the villages of Y Ty commune (Lao Cai), Mau Son peak (Lang Son), are also a destination of interest, attracting tourists from all over the world to visit and take pictures. .

Thanks to careful preparation, Mr. Lee Quang Vinh had a successful ice hunt at Mau Son peak. As soon as he heard that the temperature at the top of the mountain was low, he called the motel in the area to confirm the situation and prepare to go. In recent years, this tourist has never missed the opportunity to see the snow and ice at the top of Mau Son.

Every year, around January and February, new snow and ice appear on the top of the mountain and last only a short time. Many people want to admire the moment when the mountains and forests are covered in mist, frost covers the trees, so they travel from the lowlands to travel, it is difficult to avoid crowded scenes.

“I have experience, so I always book a room in advance. Many families traveling by car have to sleep in the car because there are no seats,” the visitor shared.

The road from the foot of the mountain (intersection of national highway 4B – provincial road 237B) to the top of Mau Son is nearly 15 km long, which is also a challenge for many drivers. Too much traffic leads to congestion, especially in the 4-5 km distance from the top of the mountain.

Unlucky to “hunt” ice-like Vinh, many tourists stuck on the road for 2-3 hours had to turn around. It was getting dark, guessing that the situation was not very favorable, Mr. Ngoc An (Hanoi) gave up his original intention of enjoying the scenery on the top of the mountain. “It’s foggy outside, it’s dark, the children are tired, crying a lot, I am also impatient, so I need to find a place to turn around. Even, the line of cars continues for kilometers on the way back.”

In the evening, the family of 4 returned to the hotel to rest and have a meal. Talking about his unfavorable trip, Mr. An said that it was still an unforgettable experience. “The next time I go snow hunting is probably when the children are a bit older. I will take advantage of going early to avoid traffic jams like this”, he confided.

Unforgettable experience

Ms. Dang Luyen (Hanoi) and 10 friends plan to travel to experience the cold highland in Ha Giang. Arriving in the city, the group rented motorbikes to explore on their own.

Although she was mentally prepared for the low temperature in the mountains this season, Ms. Luyen did not expect it to be so cold outside that the trees froze. “We encountered rain all the way, some parts of the fog covered our face. Red hands and feet could not feel anything anymore”, she said.

They had to quickly find a place to buy more warm clothes, scarves and thermal patches. Because of the cold rain and slippery roads, she and the group had to miss some destinations in the plan such as the Lung Cu flagpole or participating in the fair.

However, returning to Hanoi, Ms. Luyen was still nervous when she told about the trip lasting 3 days and 2 nights: “The majesty is what I have to say throughout the roads. Flowers, grass, trees close up. under a layer of transparent ice, indescribably beautiful”.

Fortunately, when the group went out, Ha Giang was quite empty, without having to jostle or wait at check-in points. For female tourists, it is memorable and not easy to obtain memory.

An unforgettable experience is also what Mr. Lee Quang Vinh described his recent visit to Mau Son. “Every trip with me brings new things. The feeling of having a few glasses of wine with friends and talking in the cold air is really great.”

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the influence of cold air will intensify, causing frost in the North and North Central regions to last for the next 3 days. The northern mountainous region continues to have the lowest temperature of 3-6 degrees Celsius. During the day, the temperature in the area fluctuates 10-15 degrees Celsius, the threshold is cold. Frost and snow may appear in the high mountain areas but not as harsh as in the past days.
