During the past 16 years, a noodle shop in Nam Dinh city has kept the price of 0,2$ / bowl. Every day, the restaurant serves more than 500 customers.

Opened in 2005, up to now, it has been nearly 16 years, but she still keeps the price of 0,2$ / bowl – the price that many customers consider “as cheap as giving”.

Small pho restaurant is only about 20m2 with a few simple tables and chairs, old food stalls … has become a familiar address for many people of Thanh Nam.

Ms. Chung’s restaurant is open from 17:30 pm to 1-2 am the next morning, serving mainly for students, students, and low-income workers. Only 5,000 VND, but the bowl of pho is still full with pho bread, torn chicken, growing, rolls of guise leaves. The broth is delicious, sweet, and rich, and “please” customers.

Every day, Ms. Chung sells about 350 bowls of pho for 0,2$ and about 200 bowls with the price from 0,5- 1$. The more expensive pho bowl is simply to have more rolls, sprouts, more meat, or maybe more eggs.

There are so many customers and the shop is small, so Chung has to add tables and chairs to the sidewalk. At peak, guests have to wait a long time to get a seat. “Sometimes, some customers cannot wait, so” get angry “and leave. But then tomorrow they will come”, Ms. Chung quickly made pho for the guests and shared.

Many people come to the noodle shop 0,2$ because they are curious, half-believing, do not know what the pho bowl will actually be. But after enjoying, most of them have the same comment “too delicious, too cheap”.

Talking about the secret to making pho 0,2$ but still so delicious, Ms. Chung honestly shared: “Broth is the most important factor to have a delicious noodle sale. In my shop, the broth is completely stewed from chicken bones. Every day I sell out a few dozen chickens and all the bones I do not leave but to make broth so it is so popular with many diners.

On average, Ms. Chung sells out 30-40 chickens every day, more than 1 quintal of pho bread and 3 pots of broth.

Initially, the market price was still low, and Mrs. Chung sold 3,000 VND / bowl. Later, the food was more expensive, so they sold 5,000 VND / bowl. There was a time when the price was expensive, she increased the price to 10,000 VND / bowl, but the sale was slow so she returned to the old price. And also since then the 5,000 price has become the trademark. They always named the store’s signboard “Pho 5,000”.

“Many people suspect that my husband and I do a fake business to have that price, but honestly it is not. If people sell at high prices, they make more profit, I sell this price, then make less profit. Mainly, the profit lies in selling more. Flipped duck eggs, soft drink bottles, chicken porridge, chicken porridge … together, we can survive and make a profit. Ms. Chung shared.
