Mang Ri commune has 6 hamlets and villages (nearly 500 households) with nearly 100% of the population being the Xe Dang ethnic group. They cultivate around the hillside to form terraced fields and take advantage of the spring water flowing from the mountain to intensively cultivate wet rice. In addition, each household participates in protecting and growing Ngoc Linh ginseng.
Before the harvest season, people in the Central Highlands will hold a new rice festival to pray for favorable rain, good wind, bountiful crops and prosperous families.
Xe Dang people in Mang Ri commune harvest rice by hand. The cut rice is placed on a canvas spread in a high place near the rice field, then people use bamboo sticks to beat the seeds to separate the seeds.
People bring rice back and pour it into a dry warehouse to avoid moisture, so that they can use it until the next year’s rice harvest season.
Tu Mo Rong district has a complex topography, divided by rivers, streams, rivers and high mountains, with an average altitude of 800-1,000 m, distributed in the North and East of the district, with many narrow valleys and valleys. deep.
