Spring beauty in the homeland of Vietnam

Many cultural beauties and lifestyles are vividly portrayed through works winning the Tan Suu Spring Photo Contest 2021.

Tan Suu Spring Photo Contest 2021 organized by the HCM City Photography Association (HOPA), attracting 374 authors to participate with 3,480 works. On the topic “Spring of the homeland”, the jury selected 80 winning photos and exhibited. Including 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes and 5 consolation prizes.

The award ceremony took place in early February 2021 at Nguyen Van Binh Book Street, Ben Nghe, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

The work above, named “ Loving Xuan” by Tran Anh Tuan (Hanoi), won the first prize. He said he took the photo above when he met two grandparents happily chatting and brought peach branches to celebrate Tet in the ancient village of Duong Lam, Son Tay, Hanoi.

The second prize winner is Ho Van Thai Hoang’s Spring Sun, taken in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City.

“One day at the end of the year, like every time I bring a camera when I’m out of the house. The sound of drum and unicorn bustling at a temple from afar, I quickly reached out, observed the activities of each unicorn team and decided to shoot from a high angle. The feeling is special ”, Thai Hoang shared.

New Year reunion works Nguyen Son Tung work won the second prize, taken at Ai Quoc commune, Loc Binh district, Lang Son.

The author shared that the New Year reunion, right in the name, showed an important meaning that everyone cherished. This is a day for everyone to return to family reunion, feel the love of their parents, children as well as their most loved ones.

The Trieu Khuc village painting by Bui Dang Thanh won third prize.

Trieu Khuc Village Festival, Thanh Tri, Hanoi is recognized as the National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2019. The festival is held on January 9-12 every year, to commemorate the national hero Father Cai Dai Vuong Phung Hung. In the 8th century, Trieu Khuc village was the place where King Phung Hung gathered his martyrs to surround the Tang army.

During the festival, there is an emphasis on the ancient dance “Whore.” The boys are dressed up like women in three-dimensional clothes, chalky cheeks, lipstick and a red scarf.

The work of “ Simple Happiness ” by author Le Hong Duc (Tuyen Quang) is a third author, photographing a H’mong family at the end of Lao Xa village, Sung La commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang.

The Spring Afternoon picture by author Tran Ngoc Dung (Ho Chi Minh City) won the third prize, capturing the scene of the center of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, just lit, with iconic works, magical high-rise buildings and people hustling near Tet .

The work of Ben Xuan by author Nguyen Thanh Tung (Ho Chi Minh City) won a consolation prize, capturing the scene of the spring flower market from above at Binh Dong wharf, along Tau Hu canal, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City. Tet flower boats parked closely and stretched for nearly 2 km, creating a colorful picture.

Hanoi welcomes Christmas and New Year by Pham Van Hoc (Hanoi) is a consolation prize award.
