Am Thap, also known as Cam Due Tower, was built in the 16th century on an area of ​​over 2,000 square meters in Quang Trung village, Cam Due commune, Cam Xuyen district. The complex of relics outside the stone tower also has a shrine, elephant statue … The work is ranked as a national architectural monument in 2006.

Am Thap worships Le Am, the Le Dynasty official. He is intelligent, virtuous, established a lot of great merits, was granted the privilege of King Le Loi to choose his birth share (choose the land while he was still alive). After his death, the king granted him the title of “Blessed God of the City of Phuong Cai”.

The top of the tower is crafted by monolith. The body of the tower is made to connect flat, square to sharp edges, without lime and mortar, by the color of chicken liver stones. Viewed from above, it looks like a miniature pyramid.

The tower has a square structure, over 3 m high, includes 3 floors (excluding the base and feet), in front of the tower is a censer.

The tower has 5 doors, in which three doors are located in the opposite direction from the first floor to the third floor, the rest are designed on the sides of the second floor. Above the doorway facing the main direction on the second floor, there are 5 ancient Chinese characters “Thien Duc Than Duc”, meaning to praise the diligent and diligent people. The inscription on the 3rd floor is “Nhat Nguyet”, meaning to praise the heart of the old.

On the second floor of the tower, there are also 2 stone statues.

Since its construction up to now, the tower has undergone a restoration in 2009 – 2011. The authorities have renewed the shrine, built a three-door gate and surrounded by brick wall system.

The three-door system of three gates was newly built in 2011. Above the roof of the gate is designed to create a dragon phoenix with stylized patterns.

In front of the entrance to the tower, there are two pairs of stone horses and elephants carved on both sides.

Inside the shrine, there is a collapsed temple and a censer for people and visitors to pay tribute to Le Am.

Behind the shrine is the entrance to the stone tower with two doors made of plank wood.

Currently, Duong Van Long’s family, 32 years old, residing in Cam Due commune is appointed by the government to look after the tower. Every few days, Mr. Long and his relatives go up to clean around the campus, or when there are tourists visiting, guide them to burn incense and introduce the history of the tower.

Every year, Am Thap welcomes thousands of tourists to burn incense, study historical values ​​of architecture and religion.
