SOC TRANG – The discarded shrimp noodles in the school cafeteria were brought home by teacher Le Quoc Toan and woven into beautiful colorful bags, hats, or chairs.

Le Quoc Toan, 40 years old, is an art teacher in Soc Trang city. After seeing many times behind the school cafeteria piled up packages of noodles and candies waiting for collection, Toàn thought that newspapers and plastic bottles could be collected and sold for recycling, but instant noodle shells could not be done. what. So the teacher began to find a way.

In 2014, Toan came up with the idea that instant noodle shells were often colorful and eye-catching, so they could be woven into bags to take advantage of their strength, durability and waterproof.

Before starting to work, the art teacher had to go online to learn how to knit, use a sewing machine to sew the inner lining.

In order to have the ingredients, Mr. Toan told the owner of the cafeteria every time he made instant noodles to sell, he should take the shell for himself. Some students’ parents know the teacher’s job, also for him.

Toàn had to learn the basic knitting styles such as the herringbone pattern and the rice grain pattern. Wheat shell is spun into thread, chopstick size, then fixed with candle glue.

“The shell is a nylon so it is slippery. At first, it took a few days to get the yarn I like, my hands are tired,” he said.

He often makes bags with 100% instant noodles, then he adds beads to increase the aesthetics. In the picture, the bag is made from more than 200 cassava shells, working more than a day.

“I used to use snack crust to make bags, but because the crust is thick, the fiber forming process takes time and pain in my hand so I only make a few,” he said.

In 2018, Mr. Toan was set a record by the Vietnam Record Organization: “The person who made the collection of recycled bags from the first and most bag of instant noodles” with 44 units.

“In the drawing lesson about bags, I bring to the class to introduce students to the lesson more vividly, and at the same time educate them about recycled products and protect the environment,” said Toan.

In addition to bags, teachers also try to apply instant noodle shells to make other decorative products such as lamps, hats, tables and chairs …

This furniture is completely recycled. The inside part uses a plastic bottle, the outside is covered by Mr. Toan with tapestry woven from wheat shell.

“Like other materials such as water hyacinth, sedge … I believe bags made from wheat crust will also be welcomed by many customers because of their function, aesthetics and the meaning of environmental protection,” he said. .https://9e6b7d30f51798c5cf4eb9c83ec5e225.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html

As an art teacher, the creation and crafting of bags made Toan feel alive with his passion and talent.

“Each finished bag carries my great passion for reducing plastic waste. Saving and recycling will gradually become a good habit for many people,” Toan said. Follow vnexpress
