CAN THO – Southern folk cake festival has hundreds of stalls, gathering more than 100 cakes from strange to familiar to Westerners.

From April 7 to 10, hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world came to Can Tho City to visit and enjoy more than 100 types of Southern folk cakes at the campus of Binh Thuy Square, Dang Van Day Street, Binh Thuy District. . This is the 9th time the festival has been held, open from 8 a.m. daily, the most crowded at noon, the water cake stalls are always full.

Stepping inside, visitors will be overwhelmed with 200 stalls displaying beautiful and colorful fruit cakes. This place is likened to a maze of “no way out” for diners with a sweet tooth.

Cake tray of all kinds of pigskin cakes, tapioca silkworm cakes, pandan leaf cakes, steamed banana cakes, sweet rolls filled with green beans, coconut… In which, offerings (banana leaf packages) have a mild fragrance. Cake made from rice flour, flour, coconut milk, sugar… liquid phase and steamed in leaf roll. The cake is soft and smooth, with a rich sweetness of coconut milk.

Banh Khot, Banh Xeo is one of the most popular stalls of the festival. The cakes are sold out wherever they go, and customers eat on the spot to enjoy the hotcakes that have just come out of the oven.

Khot cake is filled with green beans, minced meat, fragrant green onions, spices, add a little fatty coconut milk when the cake is about to cook. Southern Banh Khot has a soft shell, served with raw vegetables and sweet and sour fish sauce.

The tray of Banh Cuong, an orange cake reminiscent of the childhood of Westerners, is used as a light breakfast and is always present in-country markets.

The “tiny” version of the “small” version of the tet cake, the tet cake with meat bean paste and the banana filling are enough for one user, and all kinds of buns, coconut leaf cakes… priced from 5,000 to 15,000 VND/piece, which is quite beautiful.

Little ceiling cake has a shell made of soft glutinous rice flour, with a rich flavor of marinated shrimp and meat. Cooked white cake, cut into bite-sized pieces, dipped with sweet and sour fish sauce.

An Giang specialty beef jaggery cake stands out with its bright yellow color, soft spongy and sweet taste jaggery, priced at 50,000 VND per bag.

The cake festival also gathers delicious dishes, typical of the Cham, Chinese and Khmer people in the South. In the photo, shallot cake is made from diluted rice flour, mixed with finely chopped chives, added a little spice, and then poured into a steamed mold.

The cake is cut into small diamond-shaped pieces and then fried until golden brown on both sides, adding a fried egg that has just been cooked. The crispy shallot cake is soft inside, crispy on the outside, mixed with the fat of our eggs, dipped in soy sauce mixed with vinegar.

Many familiar refreshments in the West such as Banh Tet, dew dew of é seeds, water coconut… are also sold during the cake festival at affordable prices.

Near the cake, the festival is the newly inaugurated Hung King Temple area with unique architecture, which also attracts visitors.
