CAN THO – Loving the bustling markets on the river, Sebastian Hanke has captured vivid and realistic images through a high angle.

German-Mexican photographer Sebastian Hanke visited the Western city in the early days of 2020.

Sebastian shared, sitting on boats around the canals to visit floating markets is a unique experience. “Life on the river was very exciting and bustling, especially in the early morning. I was very excited to see how the river could become a bustling market with small merchants coming from all over.” I said.

Located on Can Tho River, Cai Rang and Phong Dien floating markets are the halls of hundreds of boats and boats coming here to trade every day. This is also one of the typical cultures of the river region, attracting tourists to visit.

Cai Rang Floating Market is about 5 km from the city center and takes 30 minutes by boat from Ninh Kieu wharf. Phong Dien Market is about 17 km southeast of the city. From Cai Rang market, you can rent a boat to go straight to Phong Dien market.

Rivers play an essential role in the lives of people in the Mekong Delta. They connect cities, villages and towns, allowing people to move around and shop more easily.

Here, boats and boats are the means to transport goods and move. The boat was loaded with goods, mostly fruits.

On the nose of the boat, the pole trees act as a signboard. Looking at the foods listed above, you can see which products the boats are supplying and selling.

Each boat is a mobile store. Not only buying and selling food, you can experience cuisine right on the river with many restaurants on boats and boats.

Without sophisticated furniture, marketers can still enjoy rustic dishes.

Floating markets usually meet from 5am, the busiest when the sun rises at 5:30 – 6am and then gradually disappear from 8:00. Tourists often come here early in the morning to catch dawn and feel the breath of river life in the West.

Sebastian said that the floating market is one of the most impressive places during his visit to Vietnam. He is also very interested in delicious food and impressed with the friendliness and likability of the people here.
