The photo of Long Coc tea hill won the international silver award

The photo ‘Wake up in the Midlands’ of Long Coc tea hill early in the morning brought home a $1,000 prize for author Bui Viet Duc.

The First Half of 2021 Smile World international photo contest, taking place from March 1 to August 31, attracting more than 10,000 entries, has just announced the results on November 10. The contest is divided into 4 categories: Happy time; Natural beauty; Materials and Tourism; Extend. In which, many Vietnamese photographers won high prizes.

The work ” The Midlands Waking Up” in the photo category Natural Beauty by photographer Bui Viet Duc won the silver prize (1000 USD).

Long Coc tea hill located in Tan Son district, Phu Tho province is one of the most beautiful tea growing areas in Vietnam with large and small hills and islands. In late autumn and early winter, the tea hills are often hidden in thick fog. In the early morning, the scenery is more beautiful and attractive. Not only is it a place to produce tea, in recent years Long Coc has also become an attractive eco-tourism destination for tourists from near and far.

Photographer Khanh Phan won the bronze prize (US$500) in the Documentary and Tourism category with the work Catching fish in the nipa palm forest.

The author shares about the shooting location: This farmer is catching fish and shrimp in Tinh Khe water coconut forest in Quang Ngai. The forest is the “green lung” of the province because it not only brings immense green color but also biodiversity to the local environment. Under the flooded water are many species of fish, shrimp, clams, oysters, snails… living together. People can use these species to catch fish. Meanwhile, above the coconut trees is the home of many species of storks. Visitors can rent a boat or follow the boat people to weave into the forest to visit, take pictures, and enjoy the fresh space here.

In addition to the above silver award, author Khanh Phan also won an honorary award in the Open category. The photo of Harvesting Grass captures the image of women harvesting weeds in Quang Nam, South Central Coast.

The contest’s expanded photo section is not limited to the subject, black and white, or color images and is post-processed using a variety of methods. In this category, Vietnam has 3 more photographers who won the honorary award.

Author Nguyen Phuoc Hoai captures the moment when Phu Yen fishermen cast their nets to catch fish in the early morning, creating many interesting shapes. The work is called The Beauty of Fishing Nets.

Photographer Nguyen Tan Tuan and his work Picking water lilies were taken in Moc Hoa, Long An.

Works Aging of female author Nguyen Ngoc Van. According to the author’s share, Mr. Se was born and raised in the ancient town of Hoi An. The photographer had a bit of a hard time approaching and offering him a model because he didn’t like being photographed. After a while of persuasion, he also agreed and allowed portraits.

At the international photo contest 2020 Smile World, only one person was honored with photographer Ly Hoang Long with the picture Eternal Love .

The main character in the photo is Mr. Se and his wife, Mr. Loi, two vegetable farmers in Tra Que village, Hoi An. They were married in 1949 and have been together for more than 70 years. However, after getting married, he was imprisoned during the resistance war against the French. Mr. Se said, after being freed in 1954, he returned and tried to spend more time with his wife to compensate for his feelings.
