At the end of March, Trau flowers bloomed, white the whole village along the west Ho Chi Minh road through Quang Tri.

In March, Trau flowers bloom all over the villages in the western part of Quang Tri. Trees grow along long roads, leaning against the mountains to show off their beauty. In particular, the most beautiful concentrated growing area is in the villages along the west branch of Ho Chi Minh Road.

A row of truffles grows naturally in Huong Lap commune (Huong Hoa). Trau tree usually grows in dry, well-drained soil in open forest or on the edge of dense forest. Trunk 10 to 15m high, wide canopy. In the season, the flowers bloom in all the foliage from low to high.

The flowers are unisexual, white, with a burgundy color in the middle. Flowers grow in clusters, with a mild fragrance. Flowers bloom for about 2 weeks, then bloom sporadically and last for about a month.

Six months later, the fruit ripens and falls off on its own. People collect, peel and sell seeds for 10,000 to 13,000 per kg of dry seeds. This is a significant source of income for many Van Kieu families in this area.

Taking advantage of the weekend afternoon, Ho Thi Diep (right) and her sister from Huong Lap commune drove along Ho Chi Minh road to watch the truffle tree, find shade to sit and play.

Diep said that the flowers bloomed white all over the tree, looking very beautiful, so many people were interested. “For me, Trau is attached to childhood from flowering to fruiting,” said the 12-year-old girl. In the harvest season, I go to the fields to collect Trau seeds to sell and help my family.

Immersed in the flower path in March, Ms. Thuy Linh, a tourist, compared each bunch of white flowers, looking from afar like small clouds hidden in the Truong Son mountains. “The image of the women’s mothers carrying baskets of bamboo shoots and firewood coming home from work, stopping to look at flowers and taking pictures… has a very gentle beauty,” Linh confided.

Truffle flowers bloom a lot, fall white under the roots and on the two sides of Ho Chi Minh road.

On this occasion, many people from Khe Sanh town, or from Dong Ha city come to Ho Chi Minh road to capture beautiful moments of the mountains.

Trau flowers surround houses on stilts in Huong Choa village (Huong Phung, Huong Hoa). The tree is shady, sheltered from the wind, easy to grow and usually three years old will give flowers.

In addition to flowers, along Ho Chi Minh Road, visitors also have the opportunity to see purchased flowers, chestnut flowers… blooming in late spring and early summer. Coming to the western route of Ho Chi Minh this season, visitors can visit destinations such as the eco-tourism site Chenh Venh waterfall, Sa Mu pass, Ta Puong waterfall…
