According to historical records, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hao was formerly a very wealthy landowner in Go Cong, present-day Tien Giang province. He married Mrs. Le Thi Binh, the daughter of Mr. Huyen Sy Le Phat Dat, who was also one of the richest people in Vietnam at that time. When he was still alive, his daughter was Nam Phuong Hoang Hau, named Nguyen Huu Thi Lan, who brought her grandparents to live in Da Lat and often visited.
Since coming to Da Lat to live, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hao rarely returned to his hometown. In the last days of his life, Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Huu Hao had a wish to be buried in Da Lat after his death. Carrying out his father’s will, Queen Nam Phuong built his mausoleum in Da Lat in 1939, then completed it 4 years later.
