Lake Ea Sno was formed by volcanic activity with an area of about 80ha lake surface, average depth of about 12m; in the rainy season, the area is up to 100 ha with a depth of about 20m.

Each tourist destination in Dak Nong is associated with a story and legend passed by the people of the past through the generations. Lake Ea Sno also has its own legend, which shows the traditional values of the indigenous people.
Previously, the area of the lake was surrounded by dense and unspoiled forests, where it used to be a bon of the M’nong people. There is a very poor family in the village, the couple has two children, the son named N’Chong and the daughter named M’Po.
After the sister had just quit breastfeeding, the mother passed away. Not long after the sick father passed away, the brother was sold to another area and the younger sister was adopted by a wealthy family.

After many years of buying and selling, N’Chong can return to the old village, but the two brothers still do not know each other. As N’Chong and M’Po get bigger and bigger, N’Chong becomes a healthy, intelligent, good at hunting and M’Po becomes a beautiful, gentle and skillful girl.
N’Chong and M’Po met and fell in love, they dreamed of a happy life so they got married. However, they committed incest without knowing it, so they were punished by the gods, punishing the villagers where they were born.
That year the whole village met a terrible rain, creating a fierce hurricane that swept away everything. That village bonfire was submerged by water and formed a great lake, which is present-day Lake Ea Sno . Many people still say that Ea Sno is the lake of the couple.
