Two little-known islands in Kien Giang

Ba Hon Dam is a place where visitors can walk on the sea, while Hon Nghe has unspoiled scenery, unique caves and cage fish farming.

YouTuber Khuong Nhut Minh from Vinh Long has just introduced two beach resorts in the West for the summer. If you have been to Phu Quoc , Nam Du, or Hai Tac archipelago, you still have other new options. In which, Nghe and Ba Hon Dam are pristine, the cost is also very affordable, only about 1.5 million VND.

Three Hon Dam

The destination belongs to Ba Lua archipelago, Son Hai commune, Kien Luong district, about 80 km from Rach Gia city, and about 30 km from Ha Tien, convenient to travel on Highway 80 and provincial road 11.

Three Hon Dam includes Dam Duong, Dam Duoc and Dam Gieng, each lagoon will have different landscapes such as green mangrove forests, clear blue beaches with many small pebbles, freshwater wells providing domestic water for people.

The destination is located in the shallow sea, so the water level is not high, visitors can walk from one island to another to enjoy the scenery. In addition, when the tide is low, the beaches on the lagoon reveal seafood such as scallops, scallops, blue scallops, clams, moon snails, urchins… Visitors can wade through the sea to catch snails and bring them home to cook. To get to Ba Hon Dam, visitors depart from Hon Chong pier, Binh An commune. This place sells tickets to Ba Hon Dam for 250,000 VND per person per day. From the port to the tourist destination it takes about 40 minutes by speedboat. Every day of the week, there are trips from 8:30 am to 8:30 am, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, the train will increase trips, guests can go from 6:30 to 9:30.

Ba Hon Dam has enough services for overnight accommodation and meals. If you go on your own, visitors can buy fresh seafood such as crabs, shrimp, or choose seafood hotpot, fried rice… at an affordable price, about 200,000-250,000 VND per person. You can buy a tour at the wharf. The train, including lunch, transfers to and from the same day from 380,000 to 470,000 VND.

Hon Nghe

The destination is also in Ba Lua archipelago, Hon Nghe commune, Kien Luong district. Coming to Nghe island, visitors will take a boat to see the large and small islands on Ha Tien Bay, which is compared to Ha Long Bay of the Southwest Sea.

The beautiful destinations of Nghe island are concentrated at Da Chuong cape, the highlight is Lien Ton Co Tu pagoda with three sides facing the sea, watching the beautiful sunset. The temple has a main hall located in a unique mountain cave and a 20-meter high Buddha statue in the air, which is the highlight of the island and a place to express the beliefs of the local people.

In addition, the cave system on Nghe island also attracts visitors who like to explore, such as Co Don Buddha cave, Gia Long cave, Quyt cave… The beaches on Nghe island are not too big but have attractive clear blue sea water. . In addition, Hon Nghe is also a place where many households raise fish in cages, an opportunity for tourists to visit and experience fishing activities at sea. It is possible to order lunch and enjoy dishes from cobia, cobia, grouper… on people’s rafts.

To get to Nghe island, visitors start at Ba Hon market pier in Kien Luong town, move by iron train or wooden boat to the island. There are two time frames, 8:30 and 11:30, the travel time from the pier to Hon Nghe is about 2 hours.

Train fare is 70,000 VND per person, motorbikes carry from 40,000 to 70,000 VND per unit, but guests must spend the night in Nghe island if they do not want to return too early at noon. Hon Nghe has overnight accommodation with room rates from 200,000 VND to 300,000 VND, all with sea view and amenities. The cost of eating, resting for two days and one night at Hon Nghe is about 900,000 VND per person, self-sufficient, guests take the train at noon and return to the mainland the next morning.
