Ms. Huynh My Ly and Ms. Do Thi La (68 years old, HCMC) have just returned from a 3-night 2-day trip to Ha Giang.

In mid-November, Ms. Do Thi La followed her close friend, Ms. Huynh My Ly, to Hanoi. After participating in a calligraphy exhibition, two U70 old women booked a 3-night 2-day tour to Ha Giang – their favorite place to admire through photos and videos on social networks.
“I have just returned from France to Vietnam after more than 2 years of being “stuck” because of Covid-19. During my time there with my daughter’s family, in my free time, I often look at information about Vietnam tourism, especially impressed with the nature of Ha Giang, I cherish the plan, when I return home, I will go to Ma Pi Leng, Nho Que river, Tham Ma slope, climb Lung Cu flagpole…”, Ms. La confided.
Mrs. Ly – Mrs. La’s close friend who also loves to travel and explore. She often has short trips to visit provinces and cities across the country.
“We have known each other since the 90s of the last century. The similarity of living situations and personalities has made us close and attached for many years.
Later, there were times when we were busy taking care of our children and grandchildren, we only met for a few years, but we still sympathized and loved each other, like a soul mate”, Mrs. Ly confided. Ha Giang is a very beautiful destination but quite far away. For many young tourists, conquering Ha Giang is also a challenge. Even, they often go for long days to both go and rest and maintain their health.
“When I received a tour guide for the two of them, I was really worried. I was worried that their age and health were not suitable for the trip of 3 nights and 2 days, traveling several hundred kilometers,” said Nguyen Duc Dong (HDV). tourism in Ha Giang) said. “However, the two girls were very excited and wanted to make the trip. When I met them, I was surprised by their youthful style, their agile and cheerful demeanor,” said Mr. Dong.
When she heard about Mrs. Ly, Mrs. La left for Ha Giang, many of their “old friends” tried to dissuade them. Mrs. Ly honestly confided that the first night she moved from Hanoi to Ha Giang, she almost lost sleep. She was not familiar with the winding mountain passes, making her body feel like it was wobbling.
“Fortunately when I arrived in the city, the fresh air, nice and cool weather made me recover very quickly,” said Ms. Ly.
The most difficult destination for the U70s is when conquering Lung Cu Flagpole. The flagpole is located on the top of Dragon mountain in Lung Cu commune, about 1,700 m above sea level. The way here has to go through the bends of the sleeves. Ms. La said, she sat in the car and wobbled, stunned, her hands gripping the back of the seat, not daring to leave.
Arriving there, the couple had to climb nearly 300 steps to get to the photo spot with the flagpole. While Mrs. Ly is in better health, walking quickly, Ms. La is tired, sometimes exhausted, and walks slowly. “My legs are quite weak, so climbing hundreds of steps is too much. While walking, Mrs. Ly was waiting for me, along with friend Dong – the guide encouraged and encouraged”, Ms. La said.
“There are many foreign tourists when they see us, and they enthusiastically encourage us: “Try, ladies and gentlemen, we’re almost there!” We were touched and felt very energetic, “the two women added.
When she reached the Lung Cu flagpole, Mrs. La still couldn’t believe she could do it. “I feel like I have conquered a miracle, I’m very proud. All fatigue seems to disappear. We are passionately looking at the wonderful natural landscape of the country,” she confided.
The couple confided that before the trip, they really wanted to visit Nho Que River, but were afraid of the way down to the marina. “We watched it on Youtube and thought we had to take a motorbike taxi 7km, go through dozens of small steep slopes and then walk quite a distance to reach the marina.
At that time, I asked Mrs. La: “Can you stand it?”. Mrs. La replied: “Let’s play!”. So we set off,” said Mrs. Ly. However, in reality, the car carrying the group was able to reach the boat station easily.
“It turns out that the road is more convenient now, we left the car and got off the boat, leisurely going down the river to see Nho Que”, the couple confided.
