It took 70 days since the idea, the image of the most expensive Ferrari 250 GTO supercar on the planet was completed by a carpenter in Bac Ninh and caused a “storm”.

The extremely toxic Ferrari 250 GTO of Vietnamese workers causes a fever

Ferrari 250 GTO is a rare model and is considered a masterpiece of Ferrari when only a total of 39 units were produced between 1962 and 1964. Classic style, powerful, and packed with value, 250 GTO is the most expensive classic car in the world with a price of tens of millions of dollars. In 2018, there was one that was successfully sold at a price of 70 million dollars.

In Vietnam, from the inspiration of an expensive car, a wooden Ferrari 250 GTO rolled. And it’s the work of a carpenter in Bac Ninh, who has a Youtube channel ND – Woodworking Art. The miniature version of the supercar quickly caused a “fever” when this Youtube channel received hundreds of thousands of views after only a few days of posting.00:13:39

Notably, hundreds of comments expressed their interest in the car of Vietnamese workers with many foreigners. The wooden supercar was quickly posted by websites specializing in automobiles and motorcycles such as Motor1, Hot cars….

Truong Quang Dao (30 years old, Tu Son, Bac Ninh) is the owner of the car and also the person behind the YouTube channel that is causing “fever”.

Mr. Dao said, because it took time to learn about the design, weld the steel frame, build the body and install details such as the steering wheel, gear lever, LED lights, it took up to 70 days and with 3 support workers, just finished car. Instead of just a one-seater “standing still” model car, with Mr. Dao fitted with rubber tires and an electric motor, the miniature Ferrari 250 GTO can travel at a speed of 35km/h.

The process of finishing the car.

At first, he chose many different types of wood to try to make models but had difficulty. In the end, oak was chosen for its lightness, light color and low cost. In the manufacturing process, Mr. Dao must pay attention to overcome the shrinkage of the wood.

“Because I don’t have much experience, after learning and tweaking a lot about the connection and welding of the chassis, the car was just completed. As a model car, I just drove right near my house, choosing an empty place. Feeling quite happy when the product is completed,” said Mr. Dao.

Passion but also need to earn money to support the family

Mr. Dao said that he has been doing carpentry for more than 10 years. In the process of working, when I have free time, I always record videos about my work and post them on Youtube.

The idea of making model cars came to him in 2020. He finds the children’s electric cars in the playground quite interesting and his son loves them. Working as a carpenter, he came up with the idea of making a wooden car as a gift for his children.

Before Ferrari, this carpenter used to make models of Bugatti Centodieci, Bugatti Chiron, BMW 328 Hommage, or Lamborghini Sian… All cars can roll, but at a slower speed than a Ferrari. Every time, a Vietnamese craftsman’s wooden car “releases” attracts extremely “terrible” views, millions of views.

The miniature Lamborghini Sian version is beautifully finished natural lines.

Among the “supercars”, Mr. Dao likes the Lamborghini Sian the most. In addition to the original shape, many details of the car have been made in a very personal way. For example, car lights, the team of workers uses small LEDs, using self-molding Epoxy glue.

The logo of “super cow” Lamborghini is handmade, after engraving, epoxy resin is poured. The steering wheel itself is inspired by the sports car, not the prototype of the Sian.

The Lamborghini logo has been recreated in a billion way

“When there were a lot of foreign press contacts, I was surprised because I didn’t think my product would attract such attention. Even a car company contacted me and wanted to film one of my six cars. They also contacted a representative in Vietnam with the intention of bringing their real supercar to shoot with a wooden model. Unfortunately, due to the epidemic, the plan could not be completed.

When having the idea of making them, many people dissuade because they think it is expensive, making money from Youtube is not easy. At that time, I did not explain much, as long as my wife and children were supportive and passionate, I could earn some money to support my family.

So far, there have been 6 different cars, glad that each of them has been well received by the audience. Some foreign customers contacted to buy the car, but because it could not be sent, the model is still kept as a souvenir. If it’s predestined, it can be sold, if not, it’s also very beautiful for me to watch, just do it for passion and everything will get better,” said Dao.
