In the early days of March, the hot weather in Ho Chi Minh City made us decide to go to the Western for a trip on the weekends.

One member of the group suggested a well in the city. My Tho welcomes the wind. So we got in the car and “launched” to the West. Accordingly, from Ho Chi Minh City we run along National Highway 1A and it only takes nearly 2 hours to reach the “super big, huge” well in the heart of the city. My tho, Tien Giang.

Poetic scene

As soon as they arrived, everyone felt the cool, fresh air . At the well, each gentle breeze makes everyone feel very comfortable. Seeing the water hyacinths floating in a well, I feel comfortable. Seeing children playing, playing windsurfing, everyone feels love.

There is no garbage on the surface of the well, every time the wind blows, the water ripples in the afternoon sunlight, making the scene here more romantic and poetic than ever.

Phan Quoc Bao, 21 years old, a senior instructor at the Saigon Tourism Vocational College, also has to admit that this place is peaceful even though the well is located in the heart of the city. My Tho.

My Tho water well is divided into two cells: The small well is located next to the Tien river, the square is about 150 m on each side. The large inner well is rectangular, 800m long and 150m wide.

Why is the water well huge?

According to ancient documents, the well of My Tho city, which was the moat protecting Dinh Tuong citadel, was dug by King Minh Mang in 1826, and is more than 1,000 meters long. When the French colonialists invaded Vietnam, the colonial government renovated and expanded this citadel and named it Nicolais canal. Channel width is more than 100m.

The Nicolas Sutras have been filled with mud over time. The two sides of the grass are very dense. By 1927, a French engineer set up a project to renovate the Nicolas canal into a reservoir. The current My Tho well has been renovated and is not as wide as it used to be. However, this place has also become a cultural symbol when people mention My Tho.

Never boring

Around 17 pm, we moved to the bank of Tien River for a walk. Here, many young people also enjoy exploring and taking pictures to capture the beautiful moments by the river.

Although the people here, but with Nguyen Tran Hoai Phuong, 23 years old, has never been “bored” with this romantic scenery on this embankment. “Walking an embankment is never boring. Every time I walk on this road, I feel familiar and new at the same time, ”Hoai Phuong shared.
