HA GIANG – The appearance is quite similar to the Meo King Mansion, the Old House of the Gun is causing curiosity about the architectural value and historical origin.

Less than 3 km from the Sa Phin junction (Dong Van, Ha Giang), the old house in the village of Ha Gun was hidden behind a rocky valley in Lung Tao commune. With its appearance quite similar to the famous Meo King Mansion, the house is attracting a lot of attention because of its unique architectural value and question marks about its origins and history.

The village is only 3 km from the mansion of King Meo Vuong Chinh Duc, from Sa Phin junction to the direction of Lung Cu flagpole. Without paying attention, visitors will find it very difficult to enter this valley.

Like the royal family, the old house of the Ho Gun was also built on a high hill overlooking the valley, the path up stretches of stone. The house is an architectural interference between the Hmong and the South Chinese (China), including 3 blocks. The two blocks left – right will be indented, the center block will protrude ahead.

The main door is made of wood with high thresholds, an architecture familiar to the Mong people. The gate below has two large monolithic monoliths, intricately carved with patterns, though fading over the years.

Owned by the Vư family, the old house is more than 100 years old. According to the little information gathered, this house has spent 7 generations, built by a group of workers in the South China (China). The house of Vu’s family built a group of new workers to build the Meo King Mansion, so the two houses are quite similar in architecture.

In the middle of the house is the space of the well as the highlight. Around there are enough spaces: bedroom, living room, kitchen …

The main room has a two-storey square design, above is the mezzanine floor. The entire wall has a “report” style of the ethnic people. In addition, the mat, balcony and corridor are made of precious wood. Covering the house is the yin and yang tile roof.

In the house, poppy flower patterns appear everywhere, from the wooden raft to the foot of the stone pillar. In the middle of the yard, there is an extremely rare stone bath with the age of the house.

In addition to the scale of an old superficial mansion, the old house of Há Gun also has a series of delicate and meticulous decoration details: wood furniture carved in South China style, the lower awning is wood covered with yin and yang tile, and two monolithic pillars at the gate.

The pace of life in this hundred-year-old house was completely separate from the outside world, slow and full of nostalgia.

Looking at the architecture, it can be seen that the former owner of the house was an influential figure in the area and had a close relationship with King Meo Vuong Chinh Duc. However, the identity, family background of the Vu family and the origin and history of the house up to now have not been answered. The descendants of the Vư family – most of them do not know Kinh language – do not give clear information. They only know that they are from the Vu family, born and passed on to the house by their ancestors, so the father will inherit it.

The proof for the age of the house is the deterioration, the outer wall of the entire building has many landslides, the soil has broken into large patches …
