A thousand years old tower in the land of "Prince of Bac Lieu"

Vinh Hung Tower relic has an area of about 5ha, is a residential relic dating from about the fourth century AD, belonging to the Oc Eo cultural category.

Vinh Hung Tower is located at Trung Hung 1B hamlet, Vinh Hung A commune, Vinh Loi district (Bac Lieu province), about 20km northwest of Bac Lieu city by the flight path.

In 1911, it was discovered by Mr. Lunet de Lajonquiere under the name of Tra Long Tower. In 1917, Henri Parmentier came to survey and published in the journal of the French Ancient Far East School, with the new name of Luc Hien Tower.

In May 1990, archaeologists from the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Social Sciences went to coordinate with local specialized agencies to survey, dig holes and discover some artifacts such as idol heads, civilizations, desks. Crushing, Linga – Yoni … The age of the tower relic was determined from the 7th – 8th century AD, in the final stage of the Oc Eo culture.

In 1992, Vinh Hung Tower was ranked as a National-level architectural monument. This heritage has been preserved to serve the needs of visitors to visit and learn more about Oc Eo culture.
