However, few people know that, in the center of Hanoi, there is also an 8th “Palace of Bao Dai”. The work is located at 51 Tran Hung Dao (Hoan Kiem district).
Villa 51 Tran Hung Dao was built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The first owner of this villa was the mayor of Hanoi (French).In 1945, after his abdication, former Emperor Bao Dai went to Hanoi to be the supreme advisor of the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. During his short time in Hanoi, he lived in villa 51 Tran Hung Dao. Therefore, many people call this the 8th “Palace of Bao Dai”. Currently, villa 51 Tran Hung Dao is the headquarters of the Union of Vietnam Literature and Arts. Villa 51 Tran Hung Dao has French architecture. This is also one of the typical French houses in Hanoi. The whole campus of the project includes housing and garden with a total area of more than 2,000 m2.
