As one of the pioneers in raising wild boars in Nam Dinh, Mr. Nguyen Van Sang’s farm (Hai Xuan commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province) is raising about 100 wild boars.
Before raising wild boars, Mr. Sang spent many years raising goats, but the economic efficiency was not high. He turned to research and raise three species of animals (porcupines, civets, wild boars). However, only wild boars bring the highest economic efficiency.
Since the economic efficiency of raising wild boars has been realized, Mr. Sang has completely switched to raising wild boars alone. Wild boar raising is both leisure and easy to raise; not hard, takes a lot of care.
Stable price. The source of food is easy to find, mainly for banana stalks, pulp and some vegetables. The wild boar line that his family is raising belongs to the Thai-Vietnamese wild boar line with delicious meat quality.
Mr. Sang added that due to the impact of African swine fever, many wild boar households could not keep it, so the wild pig market this year became scarce.
Currently, the price of wild boar for sale on the market is fluctuating from 160,000 to 180,000 VND / kg (live pig). Compared to last year, the selling price is higher from 10,000 to 15,000 VND / kg.
To meet the supply for the year-end market, his family has prepared nearly 70 commercial wild boars, weighing between 20 and 40 kg / head. Currently, these commercial pigs have been booked clean by customers, just waiting for the arrival date to catch.
Currently, in addition to serving commercial pigs to restaurants, hotels … he also provides breeding animals for people inside and outside the province. According to Mr. Sang’s calculations, each year his family “pocketed” more than 200 million VND (deducting costs) from the model of wild boar.
As for the wild boar herd of Tran Trong Thang’s family, Goi town, Vu Ban district, Nam Dinh province in the last few days of the year, there are regular customers calling to order.
According to Mr. Thang, wild pork has outstanding features such as rich in protein, no fat, thick skin, fragrant meat …, wild pork is bought by many people or as gifts on Tet. The wild pig consumption market is initially small and mainly supplied to restaurants and hotels in the province.
Near Tet, the number of visitors increased many times, they bought to eat or as gifts. Therefore, the end of the year “supply” is not enough “demand” to serve the market. His family, who raised about 20 children, was also out of stock.
In addition to raising and developing wild boars, nowadays, in Nam Dinh, pheasant farms at the end of the year are also quite busy.
Ms. Trinh Thi Tuyet, hamlet 7, Quyet Tien commune, Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh province, is raising more than 2,000 children, of which about 1,000 commercial pheasant birds, the rest are parent birds.
In order to have pheasants to supply to the market on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, from the fourth lunar month, her family started to join a new flock to take care of. Currently, her family has sold more than 300 commercial drums to customers and purchasing power is starting to increase.
The pheasants raised by Ms. Tuyet’s family not only served in the province but also sent everywhere. In order to get the fastest delivery to customers, Ms. Tuyet mainly sends pheasants by bus.
According to Ms. Tuyet, customers who buy pheasants can be raised as ornamental, as gifts or for food on holidays and New Year. Therefore, the price of male pheasant will range from 250,000 to 500,000 VND / bird, depending on its shape, color, and weight.
It is expected that in about a month before Tet, Ms. Tuyet’s family will earn about 100 million VND from selling commercial pheasant for Tet.
In addition to raising commercial pheasant for sale for Tet, Ms. Tuyet’s family also raises breeding pheasant. With this number of pheasants, each year, Ms. Tuyet supplies more than 20,000 breed pheasants to the market, earning hundreds of millions VND in revenue.
