Truc Lam Phuong Nam Zen Monastery is located about 15 km from the city center, the distance is not too far. History of Truc Lam Phuong Nam Monastery
Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen monastery is the largest in the South West, located in Nhon My hamlet, My Khanh, Phong Dien, Can Tho. The temple was started construction in 2013 and until May 17, 2014, it was officially inaugurated. With solemn and large space, it is divided into many special areas with delicate Buddha and Arhat statues.

Impressive architecture
Truc Lam Phuong Nam Monastery in Can Tho is located in an area of 38,016 m2 with the architecture of the pagoda from the Ly – Tran dynasty. Characteristic of the Tonkin sect in famous Zen monasteries in Vietnam and at the same time brings a new wind to attract Buddhists and tourists to visit crowdedly. The pagoda includes many items such as: main hall, bell tower, medical room or lecture hall, … The striking red-brown color of wood from the roof to the pillar, solid stone foundation.

– The three-door gate area : built solemnly with a curved attic at the top of the red tile roof. In the middle is a wooden signboard inscribed with the name of the Zen Monastery, with a statue of 2 Mr. Thien – Evil on both sides. Creating majesty, splendor and attraction from the beginning to tourists.

– The inner courtyard: the courtyard is paved with large and prominent red brick, after entering the gate of Truc Lam Phuong Nam Zen monastery you will see 2 rows of statues of 18 Arhat on both sides, in the middle is a stone table. Artist Truong Dinh Chieu donated to the temple. Next to this large courtyard, there are 2 lotus lakes, in the middle is a shrine. One side is to worship Maitreya Buddha, the other side is to worship Quan Am Bodhisattva. In addition, there is also Amitabha Buddha statue, orchid garden, peacock coop, Buddha’s birth garden with all kinds of different white stone statues in the green garden.

– Area c Going : This roofed area lunisolar 2 floors, 2 side along the corridor are the arhat block giant artisans crafted marble meticulously. Each soul-blown statue has a different spirit. The two sides are bell tower and empty tower with 3-storey roof, but do not make stairs go up. At the bell tower there is a giant red bell weighing 1.5 tons.

Inside the Truc Lam Phuong Nam Zen Monastery is a majestic, quiet space with a statue of the Buddha Shakyamuni in the middle made of bronze weighing 3.5 tons. All are built of 44 ironwood columns, with brilliant gold-plated royal cladding underneath the foot is stone pedestal. There are also many ornate details such as: cranes standing on turtle backs, stylized wooden windows, wooden Bodhisattva statues, …

– Power group : the main hall is connected to the palace by a long corridor, in addition to the La Han statues, there are also special pictures displayed. In the foreground is the statue of the 3 Patriarchs of Truc Lam sect in a sitting meditation position, inside there are statues to worship Patriarch Dat Ma and Tam To made of shiny wood. Besides, there is also a statue of Zen monk Thich Thanh Tu carved like a real person, statues of Tran Thu Do, Tran Quoc Toan are all made of bronze.

Some note when visiting
– To ensure the solemnity of the temple, when visiting here, remember to dress discreetly, not revealing. Wearing pants should be over the knee, not too short to avoid being invited out.
– The monk’s resting areas in the temple are usually not a reception place, so avoid voluntarily entering.
– Truc Lam Phuong Nam Zen Monastery is free to enter and park the car. There is also a small water counter inside, where to rest after visiting the temple.
– The monastery is open daily from 5am to 9pm.
