Cha Lo Heaven Gate is a relic of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park complex. This is a witness associated with many historical events in the American resistance war of the nation. There have been so many legendary miracles and victories that the Vietnamese army established here.

Moving Cha Lo heaven gate like?
Starting from Dong Hoi city, follow the Ho Chi Minh trail to reach Khe Ve junction, turn to 12A and then go a little further to arrive. Cha Lo Quang Binh Sky Gate is located to create Km 34.5, Road 12A. The total length of the trip is about 150km.
This road is not easy to go, there are many stages, winding, dangerous, high slope, one side is deep, the other side is a high mountain. So when you move, be careful and pay attention to observe. Making up for the difficult journey is the breathtaking mountain scenery of the great Truong Son and the villages of the ethnic minorities.

According to the legend that the local people here told that, there was a couple named Y Leng and Thong Ma fell in love with each other. Then the girl was caught by the bamboo stream and locked up in a mountain cave in the deep forest.
Because he wanted to save the loved one, the boy picked up each stone to fill the cave door to destroy the monster. In the fierce battle, two rocks fell to create an arch, people called this the gate of Cha Lo heaven .
The legend is so, but in historical value, Cha Lo Heaven Gate is a dramatic epic about the years of cutting mountains and forests of the South Vietnamese liberation army.

In the period from 1965 – 1973, Quang Binh was the main battle field that was most fiercely attacked by the American enemy. There was a time when it seemed that the whole city of Dong Hoi was flattened by bombs, toxic chemicals, and dense forests also turned into bare, gravelly bare land.
Father Lo used to be a “hot spot” that the US imperialists dropped hundreds of thousands of tons of bombs to prevent convoys carrying relief supplies for the southern battlefield.
Cha Lo Quang Binh’s sky gate stood tall as a shield to protect legions, arms transport convoys, and food aid for the South Vietnamese army and people in the period of fierce anti-American war. In this relic in the past, there was not a single day when the sound of bombs and bombs, the sound of cartons, the sound of cargo trucks and the mighty footsteps of thousands of militiamen and soldiers rushed to storm the frontlines.
Somewhere there are still engravings in the rock that our soldiers sign to send information to teammates with the slogan “The heart is still beating, the road is not blocked”. On the left side of the road, there was a cave not deep, this was the place where the “live choreography” was held for soldiers of the 12th Battalion of Engineers prior to the time of the battle on duty.

Cha Lo Heaven Gate has entered the historical legend with many glorious victories of the army, young volunteers, heroic martyrs and people who have spared their lives to save the nation’s independence. It was here that heroic units such as the 12th Battalion of Engineers, Cha Lo station, the Youth Volunteer Unit 759 were declared “Heroic Units of the People’s Armed Forces” by the Party and State.

Cha Lo heaven gate is made up of two large stones clustered together like a couple embracing to create a large arch, reminiscent of the intersecting boundary between earth and heaven. The image of two adjacent arched rocks has been included in their works by many journalists, poets and photographers.
Under these two cliffs create a welcome gate enough for trucks and tanks to pass easily.
