With a length of more than 10 km, the Cat Hai breakwater is the longest breakwater and sand break in our country today, and is also an emerging check-in point in this province.
The Cat Hai breakwater is located at Lach Huyen estuary (between Cat Hai and Cat Ba islands). The port was built starting from Cat Hai Island, gradually encroaching into the sea to take advantage of the depth of large ships, reducing the impact of natural sedimentation at the river mouth. Only at low tide, the breakwater can clearly see the long road on the sea, but at high tide, most of the dyke surface is submerged below the sea level.
Where is the Cat Hai breakwater?
This breakwater section has a length of 2,480m, in a total of 10km of dyke road serving sand and wave shielding. Marine engineering is considered to be the largest scale in our country today in the area of Lach Huyen estuary, Hai Phong. Stretching from Cat Hai island area to the East Sea.Photo: @ mrsoul2801
This work was formed with the purpose of helping to break waves and strong water currents pouring into the Lach Huyen estuary. Make it easier for boats to get in or out of, or not to be affected by, anchoring. Possessing impressive beauty, the future with Hai Phong tourism will become an extremely attractive check-in destination.Photo: @ hac_1189

Impressive design of Cat Hai dyke
Our country has no shortage of well-designed breakwaters. But if you have the opportunity to come here to see it with your own eyes, especially from an elevated perspective, you will be fascinated by the special design of this beautiful Hai Phong check-in place . To make a whole long dyke, it is necessary to pour stones down the fixed positions first. Then place giant blocks of concrete, squared up to form a road through the sea that looks like there is no endpoint. Photo: Toan HoPhoto: Quang Hue

Note when visiting Cat Hai dyke
– Come here to check in and admire the scenery, you should avoid going into the high tide time frame. Because at this time most of the breakwater in Cat Hai is submerged in seawater. The rest of the dyke is wet and mossy, so it is easy to slip when you move.
– Do not come back too late because it is difficult to move. The small road is only 1 motorbike to pass, but for those weak drivers, it is best to walk to ensure safety.
– Do not litter indiscriminately in the dike area to avoid losing the landscape and affecting the marine environment. Photo: @thuongjz
