Struggling with rats for domestic traders, Mr. Trung, a small trader in Thuong Phuoc commune, Hong Ngu district, Dong Thap province, said that he specializes in buying rats in Cambodia to sell to domestic traders for about 200- 300 kg/day.

At the beginning of the season, the field mouse was priced at 28,000 VND / kg, now it is at the end of the season, so the hamster was bought by him for 33,000 VND / kg. He sold it to domestic traders and Phu Dat rat market in Binh Long commune, Chau Phu district for 35,000 VND / kg live mouse. Subtract all expenses, his family earns nearly 700,000 VND / day.

Mr. Trung modified the mouse cages so that the people brought them to Phu Dat mouse market for consumption.

“People in the border can live this season thanks to the mouse trade” – Mr. Trung added.

And Ms. Ha Thi Kim Lang – a small trader trading rats in Tan Chau town – shared that her family has specialized in buying and selling rats for nearly 15 years, mainly living hamsters of Cambodian traders, and then cleaning rats. , wholesale and retail in markets in the province.

“I sell ready-made rats to small traders at markets for 55,000 VND / kg, while outside retail is 60,000 VND / kg. I buy as much as I buy” – Ms. Lang happily said.

Talking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Phung Anh Vu – Chairman of Binh Long Commune People’s Committee, Chau Phu District – said that Binh Long commune has Phu Dat mouse market which is considered the largest exchange and trading place of hamsters in the West.

This place every day transported to Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities with about 15 tons of hamsters. This market has 63 workers who are living off of working as rats or transporting rats.

“People who collect rats from border districts such as An Phu, Tan Chau, Tinh Bien and Tri Ton … Mouse workers have an additional income from 150,000 VND to 200,000 VND / day” – Mr. Vu said.
