According to recount, Mr. Le met the French writer Marguerite Duras on the ferry My Thuan in 1929, then the two people returned to the house in Sa Dec to live together as husband and wife. However, Mr. Le’s family objected to this love affair. Marguerite Duras then returned to France, writing the novel “Lover” (L’Amnt) about a love affair. The novel was adapted into a movie of the same name in 1991.
