How was the chicken church of Da Lat formed?

It is known that in 1983, a doctor named Alexandre Yersin went on a discovery trip and accidentally discovered the land of Dalat. In that journey was Robert, a priest of the MEP managing. He paid a lot of attention to his position here. At the end of the trip back to his country, the priest had completely recounted and envisioned all the features of Da Lat for MEP to understand clearly. Based on Dalat’s tourism experience , until 1917, another priest of the MEP managed to come to the land of flowers named Nicolas Couveulas. He came here with the purpose of finding a suitable place for his missionaries to rest. Just in the time looking and looking, he decided to choose and build a missionary institute right in this city. By 1920, this place was established Diocese of Da Lat, the main issuing authority was Quinton Diocese. The church was founded in 1920

In the following years, the church has undergone many renovations and repairs. On July 19, 1931, the Cathedral of Da Lat was commenced. Bishop Colomban Dreyer was the one who laid the first building stone for this project. Spent about 11 years to build and complete. Why is it called ‘chicken church’?

Perhaps many of you will not know that this very dear name was born is derived from a typical feature of the project. Right on the cross is placed a rooster 58m high, 66m long and crafted from alloy. There is nothing inside the chicken, the outside is covered with a quite special chemical layer.

Despite being up to 27m high, but made of very light ingredients, the chicken has a special ability to rotate freely according to the movement of the wind. To get to this church you can use bicycle, car, motorbike. First comes from the Da Lat market area , go to Mr. Dao bridge. When standing right on the bridge looking to the right you can see the church far away. When crossing the bridge, turn right, go to the end of the slope on Le Dai Hanh Street and you will arrive. Unique ancient architecture in Dalat Cathedral

Dalat Cathedral was built with the same architecture as the Roman Catholic Church of Europe. The interior of the cathedral is decorated in a typical classical style. Most of the windows are built in arch shape, with the roof of the plaster tile layer.
