LAM DONG – A tea factory nearly 100 years old has become a tourist complex, including a museum, an art gallery, and a cafe.

Cau Dat Tea Museum is a redesigned work on the old architecture of the former Cau Dat Tea Department built by the French in 1929. At that time, Cau Dat was the first place in Southeast Asia to have an establishment. tea and a large tea factory located on an area of ​​1.2 ha. Currently, this destination belongs to Cau Dat Farm in Xuan Truong commune, about 25 km from the center of Da Lat city. Around the museum are undulating tea hills.

The building is redesigned and refurbished in 2020 to become a venue for cultural activities about tea, as well as a new and attractive destination for young people from early 2021. Late last year, the Museum Cau Dat tea was introduced by the famous American architectural magazine Archdaily .

The centerpiece is the quarters of a French-era factory that has become a space for tea exhibitions, installations and cafes for visitors.

The museum house consists of 5 rooms with different themes such as the historical box, the display of tea tools, the story of the tea maker and the world tea industry.

Stepping into these spaces, visitors can see firsthand the tea production machines operating nearly 100 years ago in the factory.

The installation art display area has 7 paintings simulating the stages of tea making. The paintings are shown with special materials, which are colors drawn from the soil of the tea hill and Cau Dat tea leaves.

Suspended from the ceiling are 100 square tea blocks made up of 350 kg of Cau Dat tea. A large-scale art installation that combines light and tea to create an emotional and auditory visitor experience.

Open space cafe overlooking the tea hills, located in the museum grounds. Not only exploring the historical and artistic space, coming here, but visitors can also directly watch the artisan mix, enjoy freshly brewed tea and be guided on how to make modern teas.

Since its opening, the museum has welcomed about 300 visitors per day. Visitors can book a tour to experience the tea journey (visiting the tea museum and high-tech farm) with a ticket price of 75,000 – 195,000 VND per person.
