Khanh Phan’s fish drying work at Long Hai market is a prominent photo in Sony International Photo Contest 2021.

The Sony World Photography Awards are an annual photography event that has been held 14 times, consisting of 4 main competitions: for professionals, open competitions, for students and for ages 12 – 19. The judges will evaluate, select and announce the winners in April 2021.

These are the impressive works selected by Dailymail from photos of the contestants submitted for this year’s open contest.

Australian photographer Lance Morgan joins the Life section with a photograph of athlete Mikey Brennan surfing at Ship Stern Bluff, southeast of the Tasmanian coast, Australia. This is a place famous for the big waves that attract professional surfers to practice.

Amish Chhgan is the author of a photograph of black and white lions participating in the Wildlife section. Amish said: “Lions are symbols of strength and power. This photo clearly shows that through the shape of the beast and the beautiful mane”.

British photographer Dan Gerard went to work in the morning when he spotted a shadow on a dry dead tree by the side of the road. When he turned the car back to that point, he realized that the owl also saw him. The image was immediately captured by Dan and competed in the Wildlife section.

This captivating image of the proud beauty of the emperor penguin was captured by Jack Evans during a trip to South Georgia, southern Atlantic.

This breathtaking view of the sky was captured by photographer Agota Kadar as she looked towards the tow trucks at Hamburg station, Germany. The address in the picture used to be an old pier, now converted into an office space. The image is in the Architecture section.

The photo was taken at 2:00am in the Austrian Alps of Da Fa for the Landscape section. He captures the beauty of the Hochkönig cluster with the highest peak at 2,900 metres.

Photo left by Tariqur Shaha of misty cliffs near Deer Park, Pembrokeshire, Wales. The right photo was taken by Dominique Weiss at an angle in the Swiss Alps during the social gap because of Covid-19. Dominique shared that the photo has both gloom, stuffiness but also light with hope for the future. Both photos are in the Landscapes section.

Jamie Malcolm-Brown is the author of a photograph of the Portland Head Lighthouse lighthouse in Maine (USA). Jamie said: “The thick mist blurs the colour of the sunset over the west. The moment lasted only a little bit but created a unique view of the lighthouse that people often take.” This image is under Landscape.

The Storm in the Field by Hungarian photographer Vatja László is also in the Landscapes section.

Viktor Einar Vilhelmsson also participated in the landscape opening contest with a photograph of Vestrahorn – the impressive mountain that emerged by the calm coastline in eastern Iceland.
