About Ong Can Tho pagoda
The pagoda also has the Chinese name of Quang Trieu Hoi Quan, because it was built by Chinese people from Guangzhou and Trieu Khanh to Can Tho at that time and built up in the late 18th century. People call it Ong pagoda. This place is located close to Ninh Kieu wharf area, after hundreds of years still retains its unique architectural features. Long history
In 1894, the Chinese in Guangdong traveled by water to live in the southwestern region of Can Tho to live. With the desire to build a place of worship and study, preserve traditional culture until 1896, Mr. Can Tho pagoda was built spaciously with an area of more than 530 m2. Located in the heart of the city, many passersby are extremely outstanding, a place where Chinese people come to live and stick daily.

Impressive Chinese architecture
Mr. Can Tho pagoda architecture has typical features of the Chinese people in the southwestern land. Seen from the outside, the scene is extremely splendid with red colors and lanterns hanging everywhere. Especially at night when the electric light is lit again becomes even more brilliant and eye-catching. Other temples have curved roofs, but here the yin-yang roof is straightened and somewhat sloping downwards. On the top you will see statues of birds and carp with impressive decoration.

Besides, the pagoda is also built with solid wooden frames, the columns are connected one after another, the bottom of the temple is lined with stone pillars. When building the Guangdong people had to transport materials from that side to, even the craftsmen had a number of people on that side, showing great meticulousness. Worship items from incense burners and incense peaks all originate from China. But there are still a few items and rituals of worshiping Vietnamese influences that show bonding between children of different ethnic groups.

Going through the entrance to the temple space, you will admire a diverse colorful picture. Ancient worshiping objects are tinged with the color of time, the mosaic and couplets are painted with beautiful golden lacquer. In particular, in the temple of Mr. Can Tho, the most impressive impression is also there are huge rows of incense rings hanging from the ceiling high. The temple campus is built in the national shape, surrounded by a high fence. The place of worship is divided into different areas: worshiping Ong Bon and Ma Tien generals in front, followed by altars of Quan Am Bo Tat, Quan Cong and Thien Hau. The most notable is the central area with outstanding classical decorative architecture. The place that gathers many colors, there is also a sky well where the air circulates and gets light. In general, the space is very pure, it is a suitable place to burn incense and admire peace.

Exciting festival
In addition to the full moon, the 1st or New Year holidays according to Vietnamese customs. Every year at Ong pagoda, there are festivals that attract a large number of people as well as visitors to attend and worship Buddha such as:
– Ong Bon’s death anniversary – The person who has contributed to building the Chinese community in the world (March 15th lunar month), offering raw pork.
– Quan Thanh De – Quan Cong (on June 24 of lunar calendar), offering vegetarian food and fruit.
– On the day of Thien Hau (March 23 of lunar calendar), pig offerings are smeared in red.
