The La Son – Tuy Loan expressway connecting Thua Thien Hue with Da Nang is being checked for traffic in June.
La Son – Tuy Loan Expressway started construction in 2015 with a length of more than 77 km, a width of 22 m, with 4 lanes’ total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND, expected to be completed in 2018. However, due to problems ground, rainy weather conditions are encountered so construction is delayed.
After 6 years of construction, the first phase (66 km of La Son – Hoa Lien section) of the expressway with 2 lanes, 12 m wide roadbed is gradually completed, while the Hoa Lien – Tuy Loan section is 11.5 km long. is kept in the status quo of National Highway 1A. The Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board expects that in June this year, the expressway will open after the State Acceptance Council approves the operation.
The highway has 11.5 km through Bach Ma National Park. The area of forest land transferred to the project is over 25 ha.
The environmental impact assessment report said that the highway passing through Bach Ma has affected the habitat and flora of the garden. Experts who made environmental reports discovered that along the construction site of La Son – Tuy Loan project there are more than 90 species of birds, 18 species of mammals, 12 species of frogs and 16 species of reptiles.
The whole highway has 36 bridges, underground tunnels to facilitate the passing of animals.
Mui Trau tunnel located in Ba Na – Nui Chua forest area is 1.3 km long with a total construction cost of nearly 1,500 billion VND, is the only tunnel located on the expressway. The work is built by Vietnamese engineers.
Mui Trau tunnel ventilation fan system has been installed completely.
In recent days, many people in Quang Nam, Da Nang have driven motorbikes and cars through Mui Trau tunnel to move to Thua Thien Hue.

The management board of Ho Chi Minh Road dumped soil and rocks across the expressway in Huong Phu commune, Nam Dong district, and north of Mui Trau tunnel to prevent vehicles. However, many vehicles, cars, and motorcycles still deliberately pass to enter the expressway when sections are not allowed.
