Lan Nguyen Hue Trang, a young girl from Hanoi, put her job behind temporarily and made a bicycle journey across Vietnam to return to nature and find herself.

After 6 months of preparation, Trang decided to leave on the morning of May 19, 2020, Uncle Ho’s birthday. Before her departure, she was nervous because she did not know where she would sleep tomorrow, where to set foot, but Trang had the secret to reinforce and reassure herself and begin to conquer her journey in the mood. fun, excitement and a little “goosebumps”.
“This is a trip back to nature, also a return to my soul”, Trang shares the purpose of this journey.
The young girl’s journey through Vietnam includes 2 stages: Stage 1 is Hanoi – Ca Mau by bicycle. Stage 2 is a walk from Hanoi to the Northern mountainous region (Northeast to Northwest).
Trang said that she chose to walk on itinerary 2 because she wanted to slow down, calm down in the presence of nature, that love is home and homeland.
Female “adventurer” has walked and experienced, so far, she has cycled through 9 provinces: Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang and currently Quang Nam.
The normal speed is 2 provinces a month, but the last Covid-19 epidemic, Trang stayed in Hue for 1.5 months and stayed in Da Nang for 1 month to avoid storms and floods.
Spend 6 months preparing for the trip
In order to have the safest and most effective trip, Trang spent 6 months preparing, of which: 2 months to make a list of suitable destinations for herself, research the map for a one-way downward path, do not have to go back and forth between destinations.
In the next two months, she learned to repair cars, learn martial arts … and in the last 2 months, Trang bought a bike and practiced cycling, but it was not much because at that time Hanoi had a gap due to the Covid-19 translation.
“This is the first time I’ve been away, before that I didn’t know much about sports or adventure. I practice martial arts and make plans to give away all my clothes, books, … because I don’t stay at home for a long time, it would be a waste if I stay here, ”Trang said.
Trang brings a journey through Vietnam essential things: Clothes, 1 book, 1 notebook, stocked dry food, backpacks (tent, reflective shirt, flashlight, mini car repair kit …) , self-defense products, girls’ belongings (sunscreen, facial cleanser, mosquito repellent, …), money, papers, phone / technology.
“Before, there was no reason to do that, now this is my life, I am happy, very excitedly lying on the sidewalk under the green canopy”, Trang recalled the first day of spreading a sleeping cloth. on sidewalks.
Along the way, “the adventurer” has many difficulties in changing weather, car breakdown, living environment and even being … solicited. The first days of cycling in the sun were like fire, her skin was red and burning. The road is gravelly so the bike is constantly punctured, thanks to social sharing, many people have sent new tires and tubes for her to go on the journey.
“Living conditions on the road are very diverse, I find myself adapting very well, everyone can live, I can also live. And the important thing is to have human love, everything becomes warm, ”Trang confided.
The first month through Vietnam spent 85,000 VND
Trang said that she did not want her trip to be too easy, eating at restaurants or staying at motels. Therefore, the amount of money she brought with her for the first leg from Hanoi – Ca Mau was 3 million VND.
“Most of the time, I will only use money for sickness, car breakdown or sightseeing tickets (if I can’t apply). I minimize my own needs. And I have completed quite well the above targets. The first month I spent 85,000 dong, the second month was 210,000 dong ”, Trang said.
The whole story of eating and sleeping she depends on the people’s house on the road, there are many families who buy cakes, boil eggs, give milk to her to bring to lunch, even being invited by new brothers and sisters to the ceremony. wedding.
On her personal page, she also regularly updates information and photos of her journey. In Quang Nam, Trang and his friends transported charity clothes to Dong Giang district, went to charity at Que Son hospital, carried donated books to pupils in the flooded area …
During the journey from Hanoi to Quang Nam, in addition to the beautiful scenery of the regions of the country, what made Hue Trang the most impressive was the affection and sincere heart of the local people. Trang has received the support of many people, both in kind and in cash.
