A young man in Nghe An has just caught a fish nearly 1 meter long, with sparkling yellow scales along both sides of the body, suspected of being a golden snakehead fish.
On the morning of September 3, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu’s family (residing in Nghi Thuy ward, Cua Lo town, Nghe An) said they were preserving the golden snakehead fish, waiting for someone to pay a reasonable price.
Before that, on the evening of September 1, Mr. Hieu went fishing, near the area of Lam River that empties into Cua Lo Sea. When fishing, this fisherman caught a fish about 1m long.
When put on the boat, according to the description, the fish has a wide and quite pointed mouth, the head and back are blue-gray, the sides of the fish’s body are sparkling yellow, the lower body is silvery white with a slight pinkish tinge, and weighs nearly 6kg. .
According to experienced fishermen, this is a rare golden fish with delicious meat. Golden snakehead fish maw has extremely high nutritional value and is used to make self-consumable sutures in surgery, sometimes selling for tens of thousands of USD/kg.
After being brought ashore, many people came to ask to buy the fish. According to Ms. Nham (Mr. Hieu’s wife), the price offered by customers is still low so the family has not sold it yet. However, the owner of this rare golden giant fish did not reveal the specific price.
